Psalms 57:1{To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam; when he fled from Saul in the cave.} Be gracious unto me, O God, be gracious unto me; for my soul taketh refuge in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings do I take refuge, until the calamities be overpast.Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me; For my soul taketh refuge in thee: Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge, Until [these] calamities be overpast. Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title.
Psalms 57:2I will call unto God, the Most High; unto ùGod that performeth [all] for me.I will cry unto God Most High, Unto God that performeth [all things] for me. If in very deed you speak justice: judge right things, ye sons of men.
Psalms 57:3He will send from the heavens and save me; he hath covered with reproach him that would swallow me up. Selah. God hath sent forth his loving-kindness and his truth. He will send from heaven, and save me, [When] he that would swallow me up reproacheth; Selah God will send forth his lovingkindness and his truth. For in your heart you work iniquity: your hands forge injustice in the earth.
Psalms 57:4My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down [among] them that breathe out flames, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. My soul is among lions; I lie among them that are set on fire, Even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, And their tongue a sharp sword. The wicked are alienated from the womb; they have gone astray from the womb: they have spoken false things.
Psalms 57:5Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; [Let] thy glory [be] above all the earth. Their madness is according to the likeness of a serpent: like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ears:
Psalms 57:6They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down: they have digged a pit before me; they are fallen into the midst thereof. Selah. They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down: They have digged a pit before me; They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves. Selah Which will not hear the voice of the charmers; nor of the wizard that charmeth wisely.
Psalms 57:7My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms. My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing, yea, I will sing praises. God shall break in pieces their teeth in their mouth: the Lord shall break the grinders of the lions.
Psalms 57:8Awake, my glory; awake, lute and harp: I will wake the dawn.Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake right early. They shall come to nothing, like water running down; he hath bent his bow till they be weakened.
Psalms 57:9I will give thee thanks among the peoples, O Lord; of thee will I sing psalms among the nations:I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the peoples: I will sing praises unto thee among the nations. Like wax that melteth they shall be taken away: fire hath fallen on them, and they shall not see the sun.
Psalms 57:10For thy loving-kindness is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. For thy lovingkindness is great unto the heavens, And thy truth unto the skies. Before your thorns could know the brier; he swalloweth them up, as alive, in his wrath.
Psalms 57:11Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let thy glory be above all the earth!Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; [Let] thy glory [be] above all the earth. Psalm 58 For the Chief Musician; [set to] Al-tashheth. [A Psalm] of David. Michtam. The just shall rejoice when he shall see the revenge: he shall wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.
