| Jeremiah 3:1 | They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? Would not that land be utterly polluted? But thou hast committed fornication with many lovers; yet return to me, saith Jehovah. | They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, will he return to her again? Won't that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me, says Yahweh. | They say, If a man puts away his wife and she goes from him and becomes another man's, will he go back to her again? will not that land have been made unclean? but though you have been acting like a loose woman with a number of lovers, will you now come back to me? says the Lord. | It is commonly said: If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and marry another man, shall he return to her any more? shall not that woman be polluted, and defiled? but thou hast prostituted thyself to many lovers: nevertheless return to me, saith the Lord, and I will receive thee. |
| Jeremiah 3:2 | Lift up thine eyes unto the heights and see, where hast thou not been lain with? In the ways hast thou sat for them, as an Arab in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy fornications and with thy wickedness. | Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see; where have you not been lain with? By the ways have you sat for them, as an Arabian in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness. | Let your eyes be lifted up to the open hilltops, and see; where have you not been taken by your lovers? You have been seated waiting for them by the wayside like an Arabian in the waste land; you have made the land unclean with your loose ways and your evil-doing. | Lift up thy eyes on high: and see where thou hast not prostuted thyself: Thou didst sit in the ways, waiting for them as a robber in the wilderness: and thou hast polluted the land with thy fornications, and with thy wickedness. |
| Jeremiah 3:3 | And the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; but thou hast a harlot's forehead, thou refusest to be ashamed. | Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute's forehead, you refused to be ashamed. | So the showers have been kept back, and there has been no spring rain; still your brow is the brow of a loose woman, you will not let yourself be shamed. | Therefore the showers were withholden, and there was no lateward rain: thou hadst a harlot's forehead, thou wouldst not blush. |
| Jeremiah 3:4 | Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth? | Will you not from this time cry to me, My Father, you are the guide of my youth? | Will you not, from this time, make your prayer to me, crying, My father, you are the friend of my early years? | Therefore at least at this time call to me: Thou art my father, the guide of my virginity: |

Behold, thou hast spoken and hast done evil things, and thou art [so] determined. | Will he retain [his anger] forever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way. | Will he be angry for ever? will he keep his wrath to the end? These things you have said, and have done evil and have had your way. | Wilt thou be angry for ever, or wilt thou continue until the end? Behold, thou hast spoken, and hast done evil things, and hast been able. |
| Jeremiah 3:6 | And Jehovah said unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen what backsliding Israel hath done? She hath gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath committed fornication. | Moreover Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? she is gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the prostitute. | And the Lord said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen what Israel, turning away from me, has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every branching tree, acting like a loose woman there. | And the Lord said to me in the days of king Josias: Hast thou seen what rebellious Israel hast done? she hath gone out of herself upon every high mountain, and under every green tree, and hath played the harlot there. |
| Jeremiah 3:7 | And I said, After she hath done all these [things], she will return unto me; but she returned not. And her sister Judah, the treacherous, saw [it]. | I said after she had done all these things, She will return to me; but she didn't return: and her treacherous sister Judah saw it. | And I said, After she has done all these things she will come back to me; but she did not. And her false sister Judah saw it. | And when she had done all these things, I said: Return to me, and she did not return. And her treacherous sister Juda saw, |
| Jeremiah 3:8 | And I saw that when for all the causes wherein backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce, yet the treacherous Judah, her sister, feared not, but went and committed fornication also. | I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, didn't fear; but she also went and played the prostitute. | And though she saw that, because Israel, turning away from me, had been untrue to me, I had put her away and given her a statement in writing ending the relation between us, still Judah, her false sister, had no fear, but went and did the same. | That because the rebellious Israel had played the harlot, I had put her away, and had given her a bill of divorce: yet her treacherous sister Juda was not afraid, but went and played the harlot also herself. |
| Jeremiah 3:9 | And it came to pass through the lightness of her fornication that she polluted the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. | It happened through the lightness of her prostitution, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks. | So that through all her loose behaviour the land became unclean, and she was untrue, giving herself to stones and trees. | And by the facility of her fornication she defiled the land, and played the harlot with stones and with stocks. |
| Jeremiah 3:10 | And even for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not returned unto me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith Jehovah. | Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense, says Yahweh. | But for all this, her false sister Judah has not come back to me with all her heart, but with deceit, says the Lord. | And after all this, her treacherous sister Juda hath not returned to me with her whole heart, but with falsehood, saith the Lord. |
| Jeremiah 3:11 | And Jehovah said unto me, Backsliding Israel hath shewn herself more just than treacherous Judah. | Yahweh said to me, Backsliding Israel has showed herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. | And the Lord said to me, Israel in her turning away is seen to be more upright than false Judah. | And the Lord said to me: The rebellious Israel hath justified her soul, in comparison of the treacherous Juda. |
| Jeremiah 3:12 | Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith Jehovah: I will not make my face dark upon you; for I am merciful, saith Jehovah; I will not keep [anger] for ever. | Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, says Yahweh; I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful, says Yahweh, I will not keep [anger] forever. | Go, and give out these words to the north, and say, Come back, O Israel, though you have been turned away from me, says the Lord; my face will not be against you in wrath: for I am full of mercy, says the Lord, I will not be angry for ever. | Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and thou shalt say: Return, O rebellious Israel, saith the Lord, and I will not turn away my face from you: for I am holy, saith the Lord, and I will not be angry for ever. |
| Jeremiah 3:13 | Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against Jehovah thy God, and hast turned thy ways hither and thither to the strangers under every green tree; and ye have not hearkened to my voice, saith Jehovah. | Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice, says Yahweh. | Only be conscious of your sin, the evil you have done against the Lord your God; you have gone with strange men under every branching tree, giving no attention to my voice, says the Lord. | But yet acknowledge thy iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the Lord thy God: and thou hast scattered thy ways to strangers under every green tree, and hast not heard my voice, saith the Lord. |

| Jeremiah 3:15 | And I will give you shepherds according to my heart, and they shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. | and I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. | And I will give you keepers, pleasing to my heart, who will give you your food with knowledge and wisdom. | And I will give you pastors according to my own heart, and they shall feed you with knowledge and doctrine. |
| Jeremiah 3:16 | And it shall come to pass, when ye are multiplied in the land and become fruitful, in those days, saith Jehovah, they shall say no more, Ark of the covenant of Jehovah! neither shall it come to mind, nor shall they remember it, nor shall they visit [it]; neither shall it be done any more. | It shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says Yahweh, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of Yahweh; neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more. | And it will come about, when your numbers are increased in the land, in those days, says the Lord, that they will no longer say, The ark of the agreement of the Lord: it will not come into their minds, they will not have any memory of it, or be conscious of the loss of it, and it will not be made again. | And when you shall be multiplied, and increase in the land in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more: The ark of the covenant of the Lord: neither shall it come upon the heart, neither shall they remember it, neither shall it be visited, neither shall that be done any more. |

And I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from following me. | But I said, How I will put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of the nations! and I said, You shall call me My Father, and shall not turn away from following me. | But I said, How am I to put you among the children, and give you a desired land, a heritage of glory among the armies of the nations? and I said, You are to say to me, My father; and not be turned away from me. | But I said: How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a lovely land, the goodly inheritance of the armies of the Gentiles? And I said: Thou shalt call me father and shalt cease to walk after me. |
| Jeremiah 3:20 | Surely [as] a woman treacherously departeth from her companion, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith Jehovah. | Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel, says Yahweh. | Truly, as a wife is false to her husband, so have you been false to me, O Israel, says the Lord. | But as a woman that despiseth her lover, so hath the house of Israel despised me, saith the Lord. |
| Jeremiah 3:21 | A voice is heard upon the heights, the weeping supplications of the children of Israel; for they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Jehovah their God. | A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping [and] the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God. | A voice is sounding on the open hilltops, the weeping and the prayers of the children of Israel; because their way is twisted, they have not kept the Lord their God in mind. | A voice was heard in the highways, weeping and howling of the children of Israel: because they have made their way wicked, they have forgotten the Lord their God. |
