Shepherd of Israel, give ear, Leading Joseph as a flock, Inhabiting the cherubs shine forth,<To the chief music-maker; put to Shoshannim-eduth. Of Asaph. A Psalm.> Give ear, O Keeper of Israel, guiding Joseph like a flock; you who have your seat on the winged ones, let your glory be seen.Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for Asaph himself.
Psalms 80:2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy strength, and come to our deliverance. Before Ephraim, and Benjamin, and Manasseh, Wake up Thy might, and come for our salvation. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, let your strength be awake from sleep, and come as our salvation.Rejoice to God our helper: sing aloud to the God of Jacob.
Psalms 80:3O God, restore us; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.O God, cause us to turn back, And cause Thy face to shine, and we are saved.Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel: the pleasant psaltery with the harp.
Psalms 80:4Jehovah, God of hosts, how long will thine anger smoke against the prayer of thy people?Jehovah, God of Hosts, till when? Thou hast burned against the prayer of Thy people.O Lord God of armies, how long will your wrath be burning against the rest of your people?Blow up the trumpet on the new moon, on the noted day of your solemnity.
Psalms 80:5Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure:Thou hast caused them to eat bread of tears, And causest them to drink With tears a third time. You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure. For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob.
Psalms 80:6Thou hast made us a strife unto our neighbours, and our enemies mock among themselves.Thou makest us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies mock at it.You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves. He ordained it for a testimony in Joseph, when he came out of the land of Egypt: he heard a tongue which he knew not.
Psalms 80:7Restore us, O God of hosts; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.God of Hosts, turn us back, And cause Thy face to shine, and we are saved.Take us back again, O God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.He removed his back from the burdens: his hands had served in baskets.
Psalms 80:8Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt; thou didst cast out the nations, and plant it:A vine out of Egypt Thou dost bring, Thou dost cast out nations, and plantest it.You took a vine out of Egypt: driving out the nations, and planting it in their land.Thou calledst upon me in affliction, and I delivered thee: I heard thee in the secret place of tempest: I proved thee at the waters of contradiction.
Psalms 80:9Thou preparedst space before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land;Thou hast looked before it, and dost root it, And it filleth the land,You made ready a place for it, so that it might take deep root, and it sent out its branches over all the land.Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me,
Psalms 80:10The mountains were covered with its shadow, and the branches thereof were [like] cedars of ùGod;Covered have been hills [with] its shadow, And its boughs [are] cedars of God.The mountains were covered with its shade, and the great trees with its branches.there shall be no new god in thee: neither shalt thou adore a strange god.
Psalms 80:11It sent out its boughs unto the sea, and its shoots unto the river. It sendeth forth its branches unto the sea, And unto the river its sucklings. It sent out its arms to the Sea, and its branches to the River. For I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Psalms 80:12Why hast thou broken down its fences, so that all who pass by the way do pluck it?Why hast Thou broken down its hedges, And all passing by the way have plucked it?Why are its walls broken down by your hands, so that all who go by may take its fruit? But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me.
Psalms 80:13The boar out of the forest doth waste it, and the beast of the field doth feed off it.A boar out of the forest doth waste it, And a wild beast of the fields consumeth it.It is uprooted by the pigs from the woods, the beasts of the field get their food from it.So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions.
Psalms 80:14O God of hosts, return, we beseech thee; look down from the heavens, and behold, and visit this vine;God of Hosts, turn back, we beseech Thee, Look from heaven, and see, and inspect this vine,Come back, O God of armies: from heaven let your eyes be turned to this vine, and give your mind to it,If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:
Psalms 80:15Even the stock which thy right hand hath planted, and the young plant thou madest strong for thyself. And the root that Thy right hand planted, And the branch Thou madest strong for Thee,Even to the tree which was planted by your right hand, and to the branch which you made strong for yourself.I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.
Psalms 80:16It is burned with fire, it is cut down; they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.Burnt with fire cut down, From the rebuke of Thy face they perish. It is burned with fire; it is cut down: they are made waste by the wrath of your face. The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.
Psalms 80:17Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou hast made strong for thyself.Let Thy hand be on the man of Thy right hand, On the son of man Thou hast strengthened for Thyself.Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself. And he fed them with the fat of wheat, and filled them with honey out of the rock.
Psalms 80:18So will we not go back from thee. Revive us, and we will call upon thy name. And we do not go back from Thee, Thou dost revive us, and in Thy name we call.So will we not be turned back from you; keep us in life, and we will give praise to your name.
Psalms 80:19Restore us, O Jehovah, God of hosts; cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.O Jehovah, God of Hosts, turn us back, Cause Thy face to shine, and we are saved!Take us back, O Lord God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.
