Psalms 89:1A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our refuge from generation to generation.I will sing of the lovingkindness of Jehovah for ever: With my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. <Maschil. Of Ethan the Ezrahite.> My song will be of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make his faith clear to all generations.{An instruction. Of Ethan the Ezrahite.} I will sing of the loving-kindness of Jehovah for ever; with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness from generation to generation.
Psalms 89:2Before the mountains were made, or the earth and the world was formed; from eternity and to eternity thou art God.For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever; Thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens. For you have said, Mercy will be made strong for ever; my faith will be unchanging in the heavens. For I said, Loving-kindness shall be built up for ever; in the very heavens wilt thou establish thy faithfulness.
Psalms 89:3Turn not man away to be brought low: and thou hast said: Be converted, O ye sons of men.I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant: I have made an agreement with the man of my selection, I have made an oath to David my servant;I have made a covenant with mine elect, I have sworn unto David my servant:
Psalms 89:4For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday, which is past. And as a watch in the night,Thy seed will I establish for ever, And build up thy throne to all generations. Selah I will make your seed go on for ever, your kingdom will be strong through all generations. (Selah.)Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.
Psalms 89:5things that are counted nothing, shall their years be.And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Jehovah; Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones. In heaven let them give praise for your wonders, O Lord; and your unchanging faith among the saints. And the heavens shall celebrate thy wonders, O Jehovah, and thy faithfulness in the congregation of the saints.
Psalms 89:6In the morning man shall grow up like grass; in the morning he shall flourish and pass away: in the evening he shall fall, grow dry, and wither. For who in the skies can be compared unto Jehovah? Who among the sons of the mighty is like unto Jehovah, For who is there in the heavens in comparison with the Lord? who is like the Lord among the sons of the gods? For who in the heaven can be compared to Jehovah? [who] among the sons of the mighty shall be likened to Jehovah?
Psalms 89:7For in thy wrath we have fainted away: and are troubled in thy indignation.A God very terrible in the council of the holy ones, And to be feared above all them that are round about him? God is greatly to be feared among the saints, and to be honoured over all those who are about him.ùGod is greatly to be feared in the council of the saints, and terrible for all that are round about him.
Psalms 89:8Thou hast set our iniquities before thy eyes: our life in the light of thy countenance.O Jehovah God of hosts, Who is a mighty one, like unto thee, O Jehovah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee. O Lord God of armies, who is strong like you, O Jah? and your unchanging faith is round about you.Jehovah, God of hosts, who is like unto thee, the strong Jah? And thy faithfulness is round about thee.
Psalms 89:9For all our days are spent; and in thy wrath we have fainted away. Our years shall be considered spider:Thou rulest the pride of the sea: When the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them. You have rule over the sea in storm; when its waves are troubled, you make them calm.*Thou* rulest the pride of the sea: when its waves arise, *thou* stillest them.
Psalms 89:10the days of our years in them are threescore and ten years. But if in the strong they be fourscore years: and what is more of them is labour and sorrow. For mildness is come upon us: and we shall be corrected.Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; Thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength. Rahab was crushed by you like one wounded to death; with your strong arm you put to flight all your haters.Thou hast crushed Rahab as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thine enemies with the arm of thy strength.
Psalms 89:11Who knoweth the power of thy anger, and for thy fearThe heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: The world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them. Yours are the heavens, and the earth is yours; you have made the world, and everything which is in it.Thine are the heavens, the earth also is thine; the world and its fulness, *thou* hast founded them.
Psalms 89:12can number thy wrath? So make thy right hand known: and men learned in heart, in wisdom. The north and the south, thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon rejoice in thy name. You have made the north and the south; Tabor and Hermon are sounding with joy at your name. The north and the south, *thou* hast created them: Tabor and Hermon triumph in thy name.
Psalms 89:13Return, O Lord, how long? and be entreated in favour of thy servants.Thou hast a mighty arm; Strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. Yours is an arm of power; strong is your hand and high your right hand.Thine is the arm of might: strong is thy hand, high is thy right hand.
Psalms 89:14We are filled in the morning with thy mercy: and we have rejoiced, and are delighted all our days.Righteousness and justice are the foundation of thy throne: Lovingkindness and truth go before thy face. The seat of your kingdom is resting on righteousness and right judging: mercy and good faith come before your face.Righteousness and judgment are the foundation of thy throne; loving-kindness and truth go before thy face.
Psalms 89:15We have rejoiced for the days in which thou hast humbled us: for the years in which we have seen evils.Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: They walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance. Happy are the people who have knowledge of the holy cry: the light of your face, O Lord, will be shining on their way.Blessed is the people that know the shout of joy: they walk, O Jehovah, in the light of thy countenance.
Psalms 89:16Look upon thy servants and upon their works: and direct their children. In thy name do they rejoice all the day; And in thy righteousness are they exalted. In your name will they have joy all the day: in your righteousness will they be lifted up.In thy name are they joyful all the day, and in thy righteousness are they exalted.
Psalms 89:17And let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us: and direct thou the works of our hands over us; yea, the work of our hands do thou direct. For thou art the glory of their strength; And in thy favor our horn shall be exalted. For you are the glory of their strength; in your pleasure will our horn be lifted up.For thou art the glory of their strength; and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.
