Psalms 58:1Unto the end, destroy not, for David for an inscription of It title, when Saul sent and watched his house to kill him.Do ye indeed in silence speak righteousness? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? <To the chief music-maker; put to Al-tashheth. Michtam. Of David.> Is there righteousness in your mouths, O you gods? are you upright judges, O you sons of men?To the Overseer. `Destroy not.` A secret treasure, by David. Is it true, O dumb one, righteously ye speak? Uprightly ye judge, O sons of men?
Psalms 58:2Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; and defend me from them that rise up against me.Nay, in heart ye work wickedness; Ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth. The purposes of your hearts are evil; your hands are full of cruel doings on the earth.Even in heart ye work iniquities, In the land the violence of your hands ye ponder.
Psalms 58:3Deliver me from them that work iniquity, and save me from bloody men.The wicked are estranged from the womb: They go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies. The evil-doers are strange from the first; from the hour of their birth they go out of the true way, saying false words. The wicked have been estranged from the womb, They have erred from the belly, speaking lies.
Psalms 58:4For behold they have caught my soul: the mighty have rushed in upon me:Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: [They are] like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear, Their poison is like the poison of a snake; they are like the adder, whose ears are shut;Their poison [is] as poison of a serpent, As a deaf asp shutting its ear,
Psalms 58:5Neither is it my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord: without iniquity have I run, and directed my steps.Which hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, Charming never so wisely. Who will not be moved by the voice of the wonder-worker, however great are his powers.Which hearkeneth not to the voice of whisperers, A charmer of charms most skilful.
Psalms 58:6Rise up thou to meet me, and behold: even thou, O Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel. Attend to visit all the nations: have no mercy on all them that work iniquity.Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: Break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah. O God, let their teeth be broken in their mouths; let the great teeth of the young lions be pulled out, O Lord.O God, break their teeth in their mouth, The jaw-teeth of young lions break down, O Jehovah.
Psalms 58:7They shall return at evening, and shall suffer hunger like dogs: and shall go round about the city.Let them melt away as water that runneth apace: When he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off. Let them be turned to liquid like the ever-flowing waters; let them be cut off like the grass by the way. They are melted as waters, They go up and down for themselves, His arrow proceedeth as they cut themselves off.
Psalms 58:8Behold they shall speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: for who, say they, hath heard us ?[Let them be] as a snail which melteth and passeth away, [Like] the untimely birth of a woman, that hath not seen the sun. Let them be like an after-birth which is turned to water and comes to an end; like the fruit of a woman who gives birth before her time, let them not see the sun.As a snail that melteth he goeth on, [As] an untimely birth of a woman, They have not seen the sun.
Psalms 58:9But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them: thou shalt bring all the nations to nothing. Before your pots can feel the thorns, He will take them away with a whirlwind, the green and the burning alike. Before they are conscious of it, let them be cut down like thorns; let a strong wind take them away like waste growth. Before your pots discern the bramble, As well the raw as the heated He whirleth away.
Psalms 58:10I will keep my strength to thee: for thou art my protector:The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked; The upright man will be glad when he sees their punishment; his feet will be washed in the blood of the evil-doer.The righteous rejoiceth that he hath seen vengeance, His steps he washeth in the blood of the wicked.
Psalms 58:11my God, his mercy shall prevent me.So that men shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: Verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth. Psalm 59 For the Chief Musician; [set to] Al-tashheth. [A Psalm] of David. Michtam; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. So that men will say, Truly there is a reward for righteousness; truly there is a God who is judge on the earth. And man saith: `Surely fruit [is] for the righteous: Surely there is a God judging in the earth!`
Psalms 58:12God shall let me see over my enemies: slay them not, lest at any time my people forget. Scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord, my protector:
Psalms 58:13For the sin of their mouth, and the word of their lips: and let them be taken in their pride. And for their cursing and lying they shall be talked of,
Psalms 58:14when they are consumed: when they are consumed by thy wrath, and they shall be no more. And they shall know that God will rule Jacob, and all the ends of the earth.
Psalms 58:15They shall return at evening and shall suffer hunger like dogs: and shall go round about the city.
Psalms 58:16They shall be scattered abroad to eat, and shall murmur if they be not filled.
Psalms 58:17But I will sing thy strength: and will extol thy mercy in the morning. For thou art become my support, and my refuge, in the day of my trouble.
Psalms 58:18Unto thee, O my helper, will I sing, for thou art God my defence: my God my mercy.
