Song-of-Solomon 8:1Who shall give thee to me for my brother, sucking the breasts of my mother, that I may find thee without, and kiss thee, and now no man may despise me?Oh that thou wert as my brother, That sucked the breasts of my mother! [When] I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; Yea, and none would despise me. Oh that you were my brother, who took milk from my mother's breasts! When I came to you in the street, I would give you kisses; yes, I would not be looked down on.Who doth make thee as a brother to me, Sucking the breasts of my mother? I find thee without, I kiss thee, Yea, they do not despise me,
Song-of-Solomon 8:2I will take hold of thee, and bring thee Into my mother's house: there thou shalt teach me, and I will give thee a cup of spiced wine and new wine of my pomegranates.I would lead thee, [and] bring thee into my mother's house, Who would instruct me; I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine, Of the juice of my pomegranate. I would take you by the hand into my mother's house, and she would be my teacher. I would give you drink of spiced wine, drink of the pomegranate.I lead thee, I bring thee in unto my mother`s house, She doth teach me, I cause thee to drink of the perfumed wine, Of the juice of my pomegranate,
Song-of-Solomon 8:3His left hand under my head, and his right hand shall embrace me.His left hand [should be] under my head, And his right hand should embrace me. His left hand would be under my head, and his right hand about me.His left hand [is] under my head, And his right doth embrace me.
Song-of-Solomon 8:4I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you stir not up, nor awake my love till she please.I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love, Until he please. I say to you, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not let love be moved till it is ready.I have adjured you, daughters of Jerusalem, How ye stir up, And how ye wake the love till she please!
Song-of-Solomon 8:5Who is this that cometh up from the desert, flowing with delights, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I raised thee up: there thy mother was corrupted, there she was defloured that bore thee.Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple-tree I awakened thee: There thy mother was in travail with thee, There was she in travail that brought thee forth. Who is this, who comes up from the waste places, resting on her loved one? It was I who made you awake under the apple-tree, where your mother gave you birth; there she was in pain at your birth.Who [is] this coming from the wilderness, Hasting herself for her beloved? Under the citron-tree I have waked thee, There did thy mother pledge thee, There she gave a pledge [that] bare thee.
Song-of-Solomon 8:6Put me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy as hard as hell, the lamps thereof are fire and flames.Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as Sheol; The flashes thereof are flashes of fire, A very flame of Jehovah. Put me as a sign on your heart, as a sign on your arm; love is strong as death, and wrath bitter as the underworld: its coals are coals of fire; violent are its flames.Set me as a seal on thy heart, as a seal on thine arm, For strong as death is love, Sharp as Sheol is jealousy, Its burnings [are] burnings of fire, a flame of Jah!
Song-of-Solomon 8:7Many waters cannot quench charity, neither can the floods drown it: if a man should give all the substance of his house for love, he shall despise it as nothing.Many waters cannot quench love, Neither can floods drown it: If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, He would utterly be contemned. Much water may not put out love, or the deep waters overcome it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would be judged a price not great enough.Many waters are not able to quench the love, And floods do not wash it away. If one give all the wealth of his house for love, Treading down they tread upon it.
Song-of-Solomon 8:8Our sister is little, and hath no breasts. What shall we do to our sister in the day when she is to be spoken to?We have a little sister, And she hath no breasts: What shall we do for our sister In the day when she shall be spoken for? We have a young sister, and she has no breasts; what are we to do for our sister in the day when she is given to a man?We have a little sister, and breasts she hath not, What do we do for our sister, In the day that it is told of her?
Song-of-Solomon 8:9If she be a wall: let us build upon it bulwarks of silver: if she be a door, let us join it together with boards or cedar.If she be a wall, We will build upon her a turret of silver: And if she be a door, We will inclose her with boards of cedar. If she is a wall, we will make on her a strong base of silver; and if she is a door, we will let her be shut up with cedar-wood.If she is a wall, we build by her a palace of silver. And if she is a door, We fashion by her board-work of cedar.
Song-of-Solomon 8:10I am a wall: and my breasts are as a tower since I am become in his presence as one finding peace.I am a wall, and my breasts like the towers [thereof] Then was I in his eyes as one that found peace. I am a wall, and my breasts are like towers; then was I in his eyes as one to whom good chance had come.I [am] a wall, and my breasts as towers, Then I have been in his eyes as one finding peace.
Song-of-Solomon 8:11The peaceable had a vineyard, in that which hath people: he let out the same to keepers, every man bringeth for the fruit thereof a thousand pieces of silver.Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He let out the vineyard unto keepers; Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand [pieces] of silver. Solomon had a vine-garden at Baal-hamon; he let out the vine-garden to keepers; every one had to give a thousand bits of silver for its fruit.Solomon hath a vineyard in Baal-Hamon, He hath given the vineyard to keepers, Each bringeth for its fruit a thousand silverlings;
Song-of-Solomon 8:12My vineyard is before me. A thousand are for thee, the peaceable, and two hundred for them that keep the fruit thereof.My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: Thou, O Solomon, shalt have the thousand, And those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred. My vine-garden, which is mine, is before me: you, O Solomon, will have the thousand, and those who keep the fruit of them two hundred.My vineyard my own is before me, The thousand [is] for thee, O Solomon. And the two hundred for those keeping its fruit. O dweller in gardens!
Song-of-Solomon 8:13Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the friends hearken: make me hear thy voice.Thou that dwellest in the gardens, The companions hearken for thy voice: Cause me to hear it. You who have your resting-place in the gardens, the friends give ear to your voice; make me give ear to it.The companions are attending to thy voice, Cause me to hear. Flee, my beloved, and be like to a roe,
Song-of-Solomon 8:14Flee away, O my beloved, and be like to the roe, and to the young hart upon the mountains of aromatical spices.Make haste, my beloved, And be thou like to a roe or to a young hart Upon the mountains of spices. Come quickly, my loved one, and be like a roe on the mountains of spice.Or to a young one of the harts on mountains of spices!
