Genesis 49:1And Jacob called his sons, and said to them: Gather yourselves together that I may tell you the things that shall befall you in the last days.And Jacob called unto his sons, and said: gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the latter days. And Jacob called his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, and I will tell you what will befall you at the end of days.And Jacob calleth unto his sons and saith, `Be gathered together, and I declare to you that which doth happen with you in the latter end of the days.
Genesis 49:2Gather yourselves together, and hear, O ye sons of Jacob, hearken to Israel your father:Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; And hearken unto Israel your father. Assemble yourselves, and hear, ye sons of Jacob, And listen to Israel your father.`Be assembled, and hear, sons of Jacob, And hearken unto Israel your father.
Genesis 49:3Ruben, my firstborn, thou art my strength, and the beginning of my sorrow: excelling in gifts, greater in command.Reuben, thou art my first-born, my might, and the beginning of my strength; The pre-eminence of dignity, and the pre-eminence of power. Reuben, thou art my firstborn, My might, and the firstfruits of my vigour: Excellency of dignity, and excellency of strength.Reuben! my first-born thou, My power, and beginning of my strength, The abundance of exaltation, And the abundance of strength;
Genesis 49:4Thou art poured out as water, grow thou not: because thou wentest up to thy father's bed, and didst defile his couch.Boiling over as water, thou shalt not have the pre-eminence; Because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; Then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. Impetuous as the waters, thou shalt have no pre-eminence; Because thou wentest up to thy father's couch: Then defiledst thou [it]: he went up to my bed.Unstable as water, thou art not abundant; For thou hast gone up thy father`s bed; Then thou hast polluted: My couch he went up!
Genesis 49:5Simeon and Levi brethren: vessels of iniquity, waging war.Simeon and Levi are brethren; Weapons of violence are their swords. Simeon and Levi are brethren: Instruments of violence their swords.Simeon and Levi [are] brethren! Instruments of violence their espousals!
Genesis 49:6Let not my soul go into their counsel, nor my glory be in their assembly: "be- cause in their fury they slew a man, and in their selfwill they undermined a wall.O my soul, come not thou into their council; Unto their assembly, my glory, be not thou united; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will they hocked an ox. My soul, come not into their council; Mine honour, be not united with their assembly; For in their anger they slew men, And in their wantonness houghed oxen.Into their secret, come not, O my soul! Unto their assembly be not united, O mine honour; For in their anger they slew a man, And in their self-will eradicated a prince.
Genesis 49:7Cursed be their fury, because it was stubborn: and their wrath because it was cruel: I Will divide them in Jacob, and will scatter them in Israel.Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; And their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel. Cursed be their anger, for it [was] violent; And their rage, for it [was] cruel! I will divide them in Jacob, And scatter them in Israel.Cursed [is] their anger, for [it is] fierce, And their wrath, for [it is] sharp; I divide them in Jacob, And I scatter them in Israel.
Genesis 49:8Juda, thee shall thy brethren praise: thy hands shall be on the necks of thy enemies: the sons of thy father shall bow down to thee.Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise: Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; Thy father's sons shall bow down before thee. Judah [as to] thee, thy brethren will praise thee; Thy hand will be upon the neck of thine enemies; Thy father's children will bow down to thee.Judah! thou thy brethren praise thee! Thy hand [is] on the neck of thine enemies, Sons of thy father bow themselves to thee.
Genesis 49:9Juda is a lion's whelp: to the prey, my son, thou art gone up: resting thou hast couched as a lion, and as a lioness, who shall rouse him?Judah is a lion's whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Judah is a young lion; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up. He stoopeth, he layeth himself down as a lion, And as a lioness: who will rouse him up?A lion`s whelp [is] Judah, For prey, my son, thou hast gone up; He hath bent, he hath crouched as a lion, And as a lioness; who causeth him to arise?
Genesis 49:10The sceptre shall not be taken away from Juda, nor a ruler from his thigh, till he come that is to be sent, and he shall be the expectation of nations.The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come: And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be. The scepter will not depart from Judah, Nor the lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh come, And to him will be the obedience of peoples.The sceptre turneth not aside from Judah, And a lawgiver from between his feet, Till his Seed come; And his [is] the obedience of peoples.
Genesis 49:1111Tying his foal to the vineyard, and his ass, 0 my son, to the vine. He shall wash his robe in wine, and his garment in the blood of the grape.Binding his foal unto the vine, And his ass's colt unto the choice vine; He hath washed his garments in wine, And his vesture in the blood of grapes: He bindeth his foal to the vine, And his ass's colt to the choice vine; He washeth his dress in wine, And his garment in the blood of grapes.Binding to the vine his ass, And to the choice vine the colt of his ass, He hath washed in wine his clothing, And in the blood of grapes his covering;
Genesis 49:12His eyes are more beautiful than wine, and his teeth whiter than milk.His eyes shall be red with wine, And his teeth white with milk. The eyes are red with wine, And the teeth [are] white with milk.Red [are] eyes with wine, And white [are] teeth with milk!
Genesis 49:13Zabulon shall dwell on the sea shore, and in the road of ships, reaching as far as Sidon.Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; And he shall be for a haven of ships; And his border shall be upon Sidon. Zebulun will dwell at the shore of the seas; Yea, he will be at the shore of the ships, And his side [toucheth] upon Sidon.Zebulun at a haven of the seas doth dwell, And he [is] for a haven of ships; And his side [is] unto Zidon.
Genesis 49:14Issachar shall be a strong ass lying down between the borders.Issachar is a strong ass, Couching down between the sheepfolds: Issachar is a bony ass, Crouching down between two hurdles.Issacher [is] a strong ass, Crouching between the two folds;
Genesis 49:16He saw rest that it was good: and the land that it was excellent: and he bowed his shoulder to carry, and became a servant under tribute.And he saw a resting-place that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And became a servant under taskwork. And he saw the rest that it was good, And the land that it was pleasant; And he bowed his shoulder to bear, And was a tributary servant.And he seeth rest that [it is] good, And the land that [it is] pleasant, And he inclineth his shoulder to bear, And is to tribute a servant.
Genesis 49:16Dan shall judge his people like an- other tribe in Israel.Dan shall judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel. Dan will judge his people, As another of the tribes of Israel.Dan doth judge his people, As one of the tribes of Israel;
Genesis 49:17Let Dan be a snake in the way, a serpent in the path, that biteth the horse's heels that his rider may fall backward.Dan shall be a serpent in the way, An adder in the path, That biteth the horse's heels, So that his rider falleth backward. Dan will be a serpent on the way, A horned snake on the path, Which biteth the horse's heels, So that the rider falleth backwards.Dan is a serpent by the way, An adder by the path, Which is biting the horse`s heels, And its rider falleth backward.
Genesis 49:18I will look for thy salvation, 0 Lord.I have waited for thy salvation, O Jehovah. I wait for thy salvation, O Jehovah.For Thy salvation I have waited, Jehovah!
Genesis 49:19Gad, being girded, shall fight before him: and he himself shall be girded backward.Gad, a troop shall press upon him; But he shall press upon their heel. Gad troops will rush upon him; But he will rush upon the heel.Gad! a troop assaulteth him, But he assaulteth last.
Genesis 49:20Aser, his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield dainties to kings.Out of the Asher his bread shall be fat, And he shall yield royal dainties. Out of Asher, his bread shall be fat, And he will give royal dainties.Out of Asher his bread [is] fat; And he giveth dainties of a king.
Genesis 49:21Nephtali, a hart let loose, and giving words of beauty.Naphtali is a hind let loose: He giveth goodly words. Naphtali is a hind let loose; He giveth goodly words.Naphtali [is] a hind sent away, Who is giving beauteous young ones.
Genesis 49:22Joseph is a growing son, a growing son and comely to behold; the daughters run to and fro upon the wall.Joseph is a fruitful bough, A fruitful bough by a fountain; His branches run over the wall. Joseph is a fruitful bough; A fruitful bough by a well; [His] branches shoot over the wall.Joseph [is] a fruitful son; A fruitful son by a fountain, Daughters step over the wall;
Genesis 49:23But they that held darts provoked him, and quarrelled with him, and envied him.The archers have sorely grieved him, And shot at him, and persecute him: The archers have provoked him, And shot at, and hated him;And embitter him yea, they have striven, Yea, hate him do archers;
Genesis 49:24His bow rested upon the strong, and the bands of his arms and his hands were loosed, by the hands of the mighty one of Jacob: thence he came forth a pastor, the stone of Israel.But his bow abode in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong, By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel), But his bow abideth firm, And the arms of his hands are supple By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob. From thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:And his bow abideth in strength, And strengthened are the arms of his hands By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, Whence is a shepherd, a son of Israel.
Genesis 49:26The God of thy father shall be thy helper, and the Almighty shall bless thee with the blessings of heaven above, with the blessings of the deep that lieth be- neath, with the blessings of the breasts and of the womb.Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee, And by the Almighty, who shall bless thee, With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that coucheth beneath, Blessings of the breasts, and of the womb. From the ùGod of thy father, and he will help thee; And from the Almighty, and he will bless thee With blessings of heaven from above, With blessings of the deep that lieth under, With blessings of the breast and of the womb.By the God of thy father who helpeth thee, And the Mighty One who blesseth thee, Blessings of the heavens from above, Blessings of the deep lying under, Blessings of breasts and womb;
Genesis 49:26The blessings of thy father are strengthened with the blessings of his fathers: until the desire of the everlasting hills should come; may they be upon the head of Joseph, and upon the crown of the Nazarite among his brethren.The blessings of thy father Have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors Unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. The blessings of thy father surpass the blessings of my ancestors, Unto the bounds of the everlasting hills: They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.Thy father`s blessings have been mighty Above the blessings of my progenitors, Unto the limit of the heights age-during They are for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the one Separate [from] his brethren.
Genesis 49:27Benjamin a ravenous wolf, in the morning shall eat the prey, and in the evening shall divide the spoil.Benjamin is a wolf that raveneth: In the morning she shall devour the prey, And at even he shall divide the spoil. Benjamin [as] a wolf will he tear to pieces; In the morning he will devour the prey, And in the evening he will divide the booty.Benjamin! a wolf teareth; In the morning he eateth prey, And at evening he apportioneth spoil.`
Genesis 49:28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: these things their father spoke to them, and he blessed every one, with their proper blessings.All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them. Genesis 49:29And he charged them, saying: I am now going to be gathered to my people : bury me with my fathers in the double cave, which is in the field of Ephron the Hethite,And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, And he charged them, and said to them, I am gathered to my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,And he commandeth them, and saith unto them, `I am being gathered unto my people; bury me by my fathers, at the cave which [is] in the field of Ephron the Hittite;
Genesis 49:30Over against Mambre in the land of Chanaan, which Abraham bought to- gather with the field of Ephron the Hethite for a possession to bury in.in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place. in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is opposite to Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought of Ephron the Hittite along with the field for a possession of a sepulchre.in the cave which [is] in the field of Machpelah, which [is] on the front of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burying-place;
Genesis 49:31There they buried him, and Sara his wife: there was Isaac buried with Rebecca his wife: there also Lia doth lie buried.there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah: There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebecca his wife; and there I buried Leah.(there they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah);
Genesis 49:32And when he had ended the commandments, wherewith he instructed his sons, he drew up his feet upon the bed, and died: and he was gathered to his people."the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth. The purchase of the field, and of the cave that is in it, was from the children of Heth.the purchase of the field and of the cave which [is] in it, [is] from Sons of Heth.`
