Isaiah 42:1Behold my servant, I will uphold him: my elect, my soul delighteth in him: I have given my spirit upon him, he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.Behold, my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. Behold my servant whom I uphold, mine elect [in whom] my soul delighteth! I will put my Spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the nations.Lo, My servant, I take hold on him, My chosen one My soul hath accepted, I have put My Spirit upon him, Judgment to nations he bringeth forth.
Isaiah 42:2He shall not cry, nor have respect to person, neither shall his voice be heard abroad.He will not cry, nor lift up his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.He doth not cry, nor lift up, Nor cause his voice to be heard, in the street.
Isaiah 42:3The bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.A bruised reed will he not break, and a dimly burning wick will he not quench: he will bring forth justice in truth. A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment according to truth.A bruised reed he breaketh not, And dim flax he quencheth not, To truth he bringeth forth judgment.
Isaiah 42:4He shall not be sad, nor troublesome, till he set judgment in the earth: and the islands shall wait for his law.He will not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set justice in the earth; and the isles shall wait for his law. He shall not faint nor be in haste, till he have set justice in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.He doth not become weak nor bruised, Till he setteth judgment in the earth, And for his law isles wait with hope.
Isaiah 42:5Thus saith the Lord God that created the heavens, and stretched them out: that established the earth, and the things that spring out of it: that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that tread thereon.Thus saith God Jehovah, he that created the heavens, and stretched them forth; he that spread abroad the earth and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: Thus saith ùGod, Jehovah, he that created the heavens and stretched them out, he that spread forth the earth and its productions, he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:Thus said God, Jehovah, preparing The heavens, and stretching them out, Spreading out the earth and its productions, Giving breath to the people on it, And spirit to those walking in it.
Isaiah 42:6I the Lord have called thee in justice, and taken thee by the hand, and preserved thee. And I have given thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles:I, Jehovah, have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thy hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; I, Jehovah, have called thee in righteousness, and will take hold of thy hand; and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the nations,I, Jehovah, did call thee in righteousness, And I lay hold on thy hand, and keep thee, And I give thee for a covenant of a people, And a light of nations.
Isaiah 42:7That thou mightest open the eyes of the blind, and bring forth the prisoner out of prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house. to open the blind eyes, to bring forth the prisoner from the prison, them that sit in darkness out of the house of restraint.To open the eyes of the blind, To bring forth from prison the bound one, From the house of restraint those sitting in darkness.
Isaiah 42:8I the Lord, this is my name: I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to graven things.I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images. I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.I [am] Jehovah, this [is] My name, And Mine honour to another I give not, Nor My praise to graven images.
Isaiah 42:9The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you head them.Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them. Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth will I cause you to hear them.The former things, lo, have come, And new things I am declaring, Before they spring up I cause you to hear.
Isaiah 42:10Sing ye to the Lora a new song, his praise is from the ends of the earth: you that go down to the sea, and all that are therein: ye islands, and ye inhabitants of them.Sing unto Jehovah a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth; ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Sing unto Jehovah a new song, his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein, the isles and their inhabitants.Sing to Jehovah a new song, His praise from the end of the earth, Ye who are going down to the sea, and its fulness, Isles, and their inhabitants.
Isaiah 42:11Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses: ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise, they shall cry from the top of the mountains.Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up [their voice], the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up [their voice], the villages that Kedar doth inhabit; let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains:The wilderness and its cities do lift up [the voice], The villages Kedar doth inhabit, Sing do the inhabitants of Sela, From the top of mountains they cry.
Isaiah 42:12They shall give glory to the Lord, and shall declare his praise in the islands.Let them give glory unto Jehovah, and declare his praise in the islands. let them give glory unto Jehovah, and declare his praise in the islands.They ascribe to Jehovah honour, And His praise in the isles they declare.
Isaiah 42:13The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, as a man of war shall he stir up zeal: he shall shout and cry: he shall prevail against his enemies.Jehovah will go forth as a mighty man; he will stir up [his] zeal like a man of war: he will cry, yea, he will shout aloud; he will do mightily against his enemies. Jehovah will go forth as a mighty man, he will stir up jealousy like a man of war: he will cry, yea, he will shout; he will shew himself mighty against his enemies.Jehovah as a mighty one goeth forth. As a man of war He stirreth up zeal, He crieth, yea, He shrieketh, Against His enemies He showeth Himself mighty.
Isaiah 42:14I have always held my peace, I have I kept silence, I have been patient, I will speak now as a woman in labour: I will destroy, and swallow up at once.I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: [now] will I cry out like a travailing woman; I will gasp and pant together. Long time have I holden my peace; I have been still, I have restrained myself: I will cry like a woman that travaileth; I will blow and pant at once.I have kept silent from of old, I keep silent, I refrain myself, As a travailing woman I cry out, I desolate and swallow up together.
Isaiah 42:15I will lay waste the mountains and hills, and will make all their grass to wither: and I will turn rivers into islands, and will dry up the standing pools.I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and will dry up the pools. Isaiah 42:16And I will lead the blind into the way which they know not: and in the paths which they were ignorant of I will make them walk: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight: these things have I done to them, and have not forsaken them.And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things will I do, and I will not forsake them. And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not, in paths that they know not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. Isaiah 42:17They are turned back: let them be greatly confounded, that trust in a graven thing, that say to a molten thing: You are our god.They shall be turned back, they shall be utterly put to shame, that trust in graven images, that say unto molten images, Ye are our gods. They shall be turned back, they shall be covered with shame, that confide in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.Removed backward utterly ashamed, Are those trusting in a graven image, Those saying to a molten image, `Ye [are] our gods.`
Isaiah 42:18Hear, ye deaf, and, ye blind, behold that you may see.Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.Ye deaf, hear; and ye blind, look to see.
Isaiah 42:19Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, but he to whom I have sent my messengers? Who is blind, but he that is sold? or who is blind, but the servant of the Lord?Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I send? who is blind as he that is at peace [with me], and blind as Jehovah's servant? Who is blind, but my servant? and deaf, as my messenger whom I sent? Who is blind as he in whom I have trusted, and blind as Jehovah's servant,Who [is] blind but My servant? And deaf as My messenger I send? Who [is] blind as he who is at peace, Yea, blind, as the servant of Jehovah?
Isaiah 42:2020. Thou that seest many things, wilt thou not observe them? thou that hast ears open, wilt thou not hear?Thou seest many things, but thou observest not; his ears are open, but he heareth not. seeing many things, and thou observest not? With opened ears, he heareth not.Seeing many things, and thou observest not, Opening ears, and he heareth not.
Isaiah 42:21And the Lord was willing to sanctify him, and to magnify the law, and exalt it.It pleased Jehovah, for his righteousness' sake, to magnify the law, and make it honorable. Jehovah had delight [in him] for his righteousness' sake: he hath magnified the law, and made it honourable.Jehovah hath delight for the sake of His righteousness, He magnifieth law, and maketh honourable.
Isaiah 42:22But this is a people that is robbed and wasted: they are all the snare of young men, and they are hid in the houses of prisons: they are made a prey, and there is none to deliver them: a spoil, and there is none that saith: Restore.But this is a people robbed and plundered; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore. But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and hidden in prison-houses; they are become a prey, and none delivereth, a spoil, and none saith, Restore.And this [is] a people seized and spoiled, Snared in holes all of them, And in houses of restraint they were hidden, They have been for a prey, And there is no deliverer, A spoil, and none is saying, `Restore.`
Isaiah 42:23Who is there among you that will give ear to this, that will attend and hearken for times to come?Who is there among you that will give ear to this? that will hearken and hear for the time to come? Who among you will give ear to this, [who] will hearken and hear what is to come?Who among you giveth ear [to] this? Attendeth, and heareth afterwards.
Isaiah 42:24Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to robbers? hath not the Lord himself, against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, and they have not hearkened to his law.Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not Jehovah? he against whom we have sinned, and in whose ways they would not walk, neither were they obedient unto his law. Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? Did not Jehovah, he against whom we have sinned? And they would not walk in his ways, neither did they hearken unto his law.Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, And Israel to the spoilers? Is it not Jehovah He against whom we sinned? Yea, they have not been willing in His ways to walk, Nor have they hearkened to His law.
Isaiah 42:25And he hath poured out upon him the indignation of his fury, and a strong battle, and hath burnt him round about, and he knew not: and set him on fire, and he understood not.Therefore he poured upon him the fierceness of his anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart. And he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he took it not to heart.And He poureth on him fury, His anger, and the strength of battle, And it setteth him on fire round about, And he hath not known, And it burneth against him, and he layeth it not to heart!
