Psalms 44:1Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the sons of Core, for understanding. A canticle for the Beloved.We have heard with our ears, O God, Our fathers have told us, What work thou didst in their days, In the days of old. We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.To the Overseer. By sons of Korah. An Instruction. O God, with our ears we have heard, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work Thou didst work in their days, In the days of old.
Psalms 44:2My heart hath uttered a good word I speak my works to the king; My tongue is the pen of a scrivener that writeth swiftly.Thou didst drive out the nations with thy hand; But them thou didst plant: Thou didst afflict the peoples; But them thou didst spread abroad. How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.Thou, [with] Thy hand, nations hast dispossessed. And Thou dost plant them. Thou afflictest peoples, and sendest them away.
Psalms 44:3Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; therefore hath God blessed thee for everFor they gat not the land in possession by their own sword, Neither did their own arm save them; But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, Because thou wast favorable unto them. For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.For, not by their sword Possessed they the land, And their arm gave not salvation to them, But Thy right hand, and Thine arm, And the light of Thy countenance, Because Thou hadst accepted them.
Psalms 44:4Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O thou most mighty.Thou art my King, O God: Command deliverance for Jacob. Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.Thou [art] He, my king, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.
Psalms 44:5With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.Through thee will we push down our adversaries: Through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us. Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.By Thee our adversaries we do push, By Thy name tread down our withstanders,
Psalms 44:6Thy arrows are sharp: under thee shall people fall, into the hearts of the king's enemies.For I will not trust in my bow, Neither shall my sword save me. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.For, not in my bow do I trust, And my sword doth not save me.
Psalms 44:7Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.But thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And hast put them to shame that hate us. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.
Psalms 44:8Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.In God have we made our boast all the day long, And we will give thanks unto thy name for ever. Selah In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.In God we have boasted all the day, And Thy name to the age we thank. Selah.
Psalms 44:9Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of whichBut now thou hast cast [us] off, and brought us to dishonor, And goest not forth with our hosts. But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.In anger Thou hast cast off and causest us to blush, And goest not forth with our hosts.
Psalms 44:10the daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; And they that hate us take spoil for themselves. Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.Thou causest us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.
Psalms 44:11Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father's house.Thou hast made us like sheep [appointed] for food, And hast scattered us among the nations. Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.Thou makest us food like sheep, And among nations Thou hast scattered us.
Psalms 44:12And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.Thou sellest thy people for nought, And hast not increased [thy wealth] by their price. Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.Thou sellest Thy people without wealth, And hast not become great by their price.
Psalms 44:13And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and a derision to them that are round about us. Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.
Psalms 44:14All the glory of the king's daughter is within in golden borders,Thou makest us a byword among the nations, A shaking of the head among the peoples. Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.Thou makest us a simile among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.
Psalms 44:15clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.All the day long is my dishonor before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me, My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,All the day my confusion [is] before me, And the shame of my face hath covered me.
Psalms 44:16They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth, By reason of the enemy and the avenger. For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.
Psalms 44:17Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.All this is come upon us; Yet have we not forgotten thee, Neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.All this met us, and we did not forget Thee, Nor have we dealt falsely in Thy covenant.
Psalms 44:18They shall remember thy name throughout all generations. Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; yea, for ever and ever.Our heart is not turned back, Neither have our steps declined from thy way, Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;We turn not backward our heart, Nor turn aside doth our step from Thy path.
