Psalms 77:1Understanding for Asaph. Attend, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.I will cry unto God with my voice, Even unto God with my voice; and he will give ear unto me. I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice [is] to God, and I cry, my voice [is] to God, And He hath given ear unto me.
Psalms 77:2I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter propositions from the beginning.In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: My hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not; My soul refused to be comforted. In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.
Psalms 77:3How great things have we heard and known, and our fathers have told us.I remember God, and am disquieted: I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed. Selah I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.
Psalms 77:4They have not been hidden from their children, in another generation. Declaring the praises of the Lord, and his powers, and his wonders which he hath done.Thou holdest mine eyes watching: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.
Psalms 77:5And he set up a testimony in Jacob: and made a law in Israel. How great things he commanded our fathers, that they should make the same known to their children:I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times. I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.
Psalms 77:6that another generation might know them. The children that should be born and should rise up, and declare them to their children.I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart; And my spirit maketh diligent search. I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:
Psalms 77:7That they may put their hope in God and may not forget the works of God: and may seek his commandments.Will the Lord cast off for ever? And will he be favorable no more? Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?
Psalms 77:8That they may not become like their fathers, a perverse end exasperating generation. A generation that set not their heart aright: and whose spirit was not faithful to God.Is his lovingkindness clean gone for ever? Doth his promise fail for evermore? Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?
Psalms 77:9The sons of Ephraim who bend and shoot with the bow: they have turned back in the day of battle.Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.Hath God forgotten [His] favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.
Psalms 77:10They kept not the covenant of God: and in his law they would not walk.And I said, This is my infirmity; [But I will remember] the years of the right hand of the Most High. And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.`
Psalms 77:11And they forgot his benefits, and his wonders that he had shewn them.I will make mention of the deeds of Jehovah; For I will remember thy wonders of old. I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,
Psalms 77:12Wonderful things did he do in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Tanis.I will meditate also upon all thy work, And muse on thy doings. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.
Psalms 77:13He divided the sea and brought them through: and he made the waters to stand as in a vessel.Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: Who is a great god like unto God? Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?O God, in holiness [is] Thy way, Who [is] a great god like God?
Psalms 77:14And he conducted them with a cloud by day: and all the night with a light ofThou art the God that doest wonders: Thou hast made known thy strength among the peoples. Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.Thou [art] the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,
Psalms 77:15He struck the rock in the wilderness: and gave them to drink, as out of the great deep.Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
Psalms 77:16He brought forth water out of the rock: and made streams run down as rivers.The waters saw thee, O God; The waters saw thee, they were afraid: The depths also trembled. The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid also depths are troubled.
Psalms 77:17And they added yet more sin against him: they provoked the most High to wrath in the place without water.The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound: Thine arrows also went abroad. The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also Thine arrows go up and down.
Psalms 77:18And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking meat for their desires.The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lightened the world: The earth trembled and shook. The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.The voice of Thy thunder [is] in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.
Psalms 77:19And they spoke ill of God: they said: Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?Thy way was in the sea, And thy paths in the great waters, And thy footsteps were not known. Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.In the sea [is] Thy way, And Thy paths [are] in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.
Psalms 77:20Because he struck the rock, and the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can he also give bread, or provide a table for his people?Thou leddest thy people like a flock, By the hand of Moses and Aaron. Psalm 78 Maschil of Asaph. Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
Psalms 77:21Therefore the Lord heard, and was angry: and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and wrath came up against Israel.
Psalms 77:22Because they believed not in God: and trusted not in his salvation.
Psalms 77:23And he had commanded the clouds from above, and had opened the doors of heaven.
Psalms 77:24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the bread of heaven.
Psalms 77:25Man ate the bread of angels: he sent them provisions in abundance.
Psalms 77:26He removed the south wind from heaven: and by his power brought in the southwest wind.
Psalms 77:27And he rained upon them flesh as dust: and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea.
Psalms 77:28And they fell in the midst of their camp, round about their pavilions.
Psalms 77:29So they did eat, and were filled exceedingly, and he gave them their desire:
Psalms 77:30they were not defrauded of that which they craved. As yet their meat was in their mouth:
Psalms 77:31and the wrath of God came upon them. And he slew the fat ones amongst them, and brought down the chosen men of Israel.
Psalms 77:32In all these things they sinned still: and they believed not for his wondrous works.
Psalms 77:33And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years in haste.
Psalms 77:34When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned, and came to him early in the morning.
Psalms 77:35And they remembered that God was their helper: and the most high God their redeemer.
Psalms 77:36And they loved him with their mouth: and with their tongue they lied unto him:
Psalms 77:37But their heart was not right with him: nor were they counted faithful in his covenant.
Psalms 77:38But he is merciful, and will forgive their sins: and will not destroy them. And many a time did he turn away his anger: and did not kindle all his wrath.
Psalms 77:39And he remembered that they are flesh: a wind that goeth and returneth not.
Psalms 77:40How often did they provoke him in the desert: and move him to wrath in the place without water?
Psalms 77:41And they turned back and tempted God: and grieved the holy one of Israel.
Psalms 77:42They remembered not his hand, in the day that he redeemed them from the hand of him that afflicted them:
Psalms 77:43How he wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Tanis.
Psalms 77:44And he turned their rivers into blood, and their showers that they might, not drink.
Psalms 77:45He sent amongst them divers sores of flies, which devoured them: and frogs which destroyed them.
Psalms 77:46And he gave up their fruits to the blast, and their labours to the locust.
Psalms 77:47And he destroyed their vineyards with hail, and their mulberry trees with hoarfrost.
Psalms 77:48And he gave up their cattle to the hail, and their stock to the fire.
Psalms 77:49And he sent upon them the wrath of his indignation: indignation and wrath and trouble, which he sent by evil angels.
Psalms 77:50He made a way for a path to his anger: he spared not their souls from death, and their cattle he shut up in death.
Psalms 77:51And he killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt: the firstfruits of all their labour in the tabernacles of Cham.
Psalms 77:52And he took away his own people as sheep: and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
Psalms 77:53And he brought them out in hope, and they feared not: band the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
Psalms 77:54And he brought them into the mountain of his sanctuary: the mountain which his right hand had purchased. And he cast out the Gentiles before them: and by lot divided to them their land by a line of distribution.
Psalms 77:55And he made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles.
Psalms 77:56Yet they tempted, and provoked the most high God: and they kept not his testimonies.
Psalms 77:57And they turned away, and kept not the covenant: even like their fathers they were turned aside as a crooked bow.
Psalms 77:58They provoked him to anger on their hills: and moved him to jealousy with their graven things.
Psalms 77:59God heard, and despised them, and he reduced Israel exceedingly as it were to nothing.
Psalms 77:60And he put away the tabernacle of Silo, his tabernacle where he dwelt among men.
Psalms 77:61And he delivered their strength into captivity: and their beauty into the hands of the enemy.
Psalms 77:62And he shut up his people under the sword: and he despised his inheritance.
Psalms 77:63Fire consumed their young men: and their maidens were not lamented.
Psalms 77:64Their priests fell by the sword: and their widows did not mourn.
Psalms 77:65And the Lord was awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that hath been surfeited with wine.
Psalms 77:66And he smote his enemies on the hinder parts: he put them to an everlasting reproach.
Psalms 77:67And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph: and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
Psalms 77:68But he chose the tribe of Juda, mount Sion which he loved.
Psalms 77:69And he built his sanctuary as of unicorns, in the land which he founded for ever.
Psalms 77:70And he chose his servant David, and took him from the hocks of sheep: he brought him from following the ewes great with young,
Psalms 77:71To feed Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance.
Psalms 77:72And he fed them in the innocence of his heart: and conducted them by the skilfulness of his hands.
