Psalms 37:1A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath.<Of David.> Do not be angry because of the wrongdoers, or have envy of the workers of evil.Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
Psalms 37:2Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath. For they will quickly be cut down like grass, and become dry like the green plants. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Psalms 37:3For thy arrows are fastened in me : and thy hand hath been strong upon me.Have faith in the Lord, and do good; be at rest in the land, and go after righteousness.Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Psalms 37:4There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath : there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins.So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires.Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he will give thee the desires of thy heart.
Psalms 37:5For my iniquities are gone over my head : and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me.Put your life in the hands of the Lord; have faith in him and he will do it.Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.Commit thy way to the LORD; trust also in him; and he will bring it to pass.
Psalms 37:6My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness. And he will make your righteousness be seen like the light, and your cause like the shining of the sun.And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. And he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noon-day.
Psalms 37:7I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end : I walked sorrowful all the day long.Take your rest in the Lord, waiting quietly for him; do not be angry because of the man who does well in his evil ways, and gives effect to his bad designs.Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Psalms 37:8For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh.Put an end to your wrath and be no longer bitter; do not give way to angry feeling which is a cause of sin.Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
Psalms 37:9I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly : I roared with the groaning of my heart. For the evil-doers will be cut off: but those who have faith in the Lord will have the earth for their heritage. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For evil doers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
Psalms 37:10Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee. For in a short time the evil-doer will be gone: you will go searching for his place, and it will not be there. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yes, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
Psalms 37:11My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me.But the gentle will have the earth for their heritage; they will take their delight in peace without measure. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Psalms 37:12My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off :The sinner has evil designs against the upright, lifting up the voice of wrath against him.The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
Psalms 37:13And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long.He will be laughed at by the Lord, who sees that his day is coming. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. The Lord will laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
Psalms 37:14But I, as a deaf man, heard not : and as a dumb man not opening his mouth. The evil-doers have taken out their swords, their bows are bent; for crushing the poor, and to put to death those who are upright in their ways. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as are of upright deportment.
Psalms 37:15And I became as a man that heareth not : and that hath no reproofs in his mouth. But their swords will be turned into their hearts, and their bows will be broken.Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Psalms 37:16For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped : thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God.The little which the good man has is better than the wealth of evil-doers.A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
Psalms 37:17For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me : and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me.For the arms of the evil-doers will be broken: but the Lord is the support of the good. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
Psalms 37:18For I am ready for scourges : and my sorrow is continually before me.The days of the upright are numbered by the Lord, and their heritage will be for ever. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Psalms 37:19For I will declare my inequity : and I will think for my sin. They will not be shamed in the evil time, and in the days when all are in need of food they will have enough. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Psalms 37:20But my enemies live, and are stronger that I : and they hate me wrongfully are multiplied. But the wrongdoers will come to destruction, and the haters of the Lord will be like the fat of lambs, they will be burned up; they will go up in smoke, and never again be seen. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
Psalms 37:21They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness. The sinner takes money and does not give it back; but the upright man has mercy, and gives to others. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth.
Psalms 37:22Forsake me not, O Lord my God : do not thou depart from me.Those who have his blessing will have the earth for their heritage; but those who are cursed by him will be cut off.For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the earth; and they that are cursed by him shall be cut off.
Psalms 37:23Attend unto my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he takes delight in his way.The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
