| Psalms 36:1 | A psalm for David himself. Be not emulous of evildoers; nor envy them that work iniquity. | <To the chief music-maker. Of the servant of the Lord. Of David.> The sin of the evil-doer says in his heart, There is no fear of the Lord before his eyes. | | The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. |
| Psalms 36:2 | For they shall shortly wither away as grass, and as the green herbs shall quickly fall. | For he takes comfort in the thought that his sin will not be uncovered and hated. | | For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. |
| Psalms 36:3 | Trust in the Lord, and do good, and dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed with its riches. | In the words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has given up being wise and doing good. | | The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. |
| Psalms 36:4 | Delight in the Lord, and he will give thee the requests of thy heart. | He gives thought to evil on his bed; he takes a way which is not good; he is not a hater of evil. | | He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil. |
| Psalms 36:5 | Commit thy way to the Lord, and trust in him, and he will do it. | Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and your strong purpose is as high as the clouds. | | Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. |
| Psalms 36:6 | And he will bring forth thy justice as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. | Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judging is like the great deep; O Lord, you give life to man and beast. | | Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. |
| Psalms 36:7 | Be subject to the Lord and pray to him Envy not the man who prospereth in his way; the man who doth unjust things. | How good is your loving mercy, O God! the children of men take cover under the shade of your wings. | | How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. |
| Psalms 36:8 | Cease from anger, and leave rage; have no emulation to do evil. | The delights of your house will be showered on them; you will give them drink from the river of your pleasures. | | They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. |
| Psalms 36:9 | For the evildoers shall be cut off : but they that wait upon the Lord shall inherit the land. | For with you is the fountain of life: in your light we will see light. | | For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. |
| Psalms 36:10 | For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be : and thou shalt seek his place, and shalt not find it. | O let there be no end to your loving mercy to those who have knowledge of you, or of your righteousness to the upright in heart. | | O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. |
| Psalms 36:11 | But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace. | Let not the foot of pride come against me, or the hand of the evil-doers put me out of my place. | | Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me. |
| Psalms 36:12 | The sinner shall watch the just man : and shall gnash upon him with his teeth. | There the workers of evil have come down: they have been made low, and will not be lifted up. | | There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise. |
