Psalms 80:1Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for Asaph himself.<To the chief music-maker; put to Shoshannim-eduth. Of Asaph. A Psalm.> Give ear, O Keeper of Israel, guiding Joseph like a flock; you who have your seat on the winged ones, let your glory be seen.Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock, You who sit above the cherubim, shine forth.Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, Thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; Thou that sittest [above] the cherubim, shine forth.
Psalms 80:2Rejoice to God our helper: sing aloud to the God of Jacob. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, let your strength be awake from sleep, and come as our salvation. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might, Come to save us.Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, And come to save us.
Psalms 80:3Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel: the pleasant psaltery with the harp.Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.Turn us again, God. Cause your face to shine, And we will be saved.Turn us again, O God; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
Psalms 80:4Blow up the trumpet on the new moon, on the noted day of your solemnity.O Lord God of armies, how long will your wrath be burning against the rest of your people?Yahweh God of hosts, How long will you be angry against the prayer of your people?O Jehovah God of hosts, How long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
Psalms 80:5For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob. You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure. You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in large measure.
Psalms 80:6He ordained it for a testimony in Joseph, when he came out of the land of Egypt: he heard a tongue which he knew not.You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves. You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies laugh among themselves.Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbors; And our enemies laugh among themselves.
Psalms 80:7He removed his back from the burdens: his hands had served in baskets.Take us back again, O God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.Turn us again, God of hosts. Cause your face to shine, And we will be saved.Turn us again, O God of hosts; And cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
Psalms 80:8Thou calledst upon me in affliction, and I delivered thee: I heard thee in the secret place of tempest: I proved thee at the waters of contradiction. You took a vine out of Egypt: driving out the nations, and planting it in their land. You brought a vine out of Egypt. You drove out the nations, and planted it.Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: Thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it.
Psalms 80:9Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me,You made ready a place for it, so that it might take deep root, and it sent out its branches over all the land. You cleared the ground for it. It took deep root, and filled the land.Thou preparedst [room] before it, And it took deep root, and filled the land.
Psalms 80:10there shall be no new god in thee: neither shalt thou adore a strange god.The mountains were covered with its shade, and the great trees with its branches. The mountains were covered with its shadow. Its boughs were like God's cedars. The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, And the boughs thereof were [like] cedars of God.
Psalms 80:11For I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.It sent out its arms to the Sea, and its branches to the River. It sent out its branches to the sea, Its shoots to the River. It sent out its branches unto the sea, And its shoots unto the River.
Psalms 80:12But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me.Why are its walls broken down by your hands, so that all who go by may take its fruit? Why have you broken down its walls, So that all those who pass by the way pluck it?Why hast thou broken down its walls, So that all they that pass by the way do pluck it?
Psalms 80:13So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions. It is uprooted by the pigs from the woods, the beasts of the field get their food from it.The boar out of the wood ravages it. The wild animals of the field feed on it.The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, And the wild beasts of the field feed on it.
Psalms 80:14If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:Come back, O God of armies: from heaven let your eyes be turned to this vine, and give your mind to it,Turn again, we beg you, God of hosts. Look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vine,Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: Look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,
Psalms 80:15I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.Even to the tree which was planted by your right hand, and to the branch which you made strong for yourself. The stock which your right hand planted, The branch that you made strong for yourself. And the stock which thy right hand planted, And the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
Psalms 80:16The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.It is burned with fire; it is cut down: they are made waste by the wrath of your face.It is burned with fire. It is cut down. They perish at your rebuke. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: They perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
Psalms 80:17And he fed them with the fat of wheat, and filled them with honey out of the rock.Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, On the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, Upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
