| Job 18:2 | How long will you throw out words? understand first, and so let us speak. | How long will it be before you have done talking? Get wisdom, and then we will say what is in our minds. | "How long will you hunt for words? Consider, and afterwards we will speak. | How long will ye hunt for words? Be intelligent, and then we will speak. |
| Job 18:3 | Why are we reputed as beasts, and counted vile before you? | Why do we seem as beasts in your eyes, and as completely without knowledge? | Why are we counted as animals, Which have become unclean in your sight? | Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed stupid in your sight? |
| Job 18:4 | Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury, shall the earth be forsaken for thee, and shall rocks be removed out of their place? | But come back, now, come: you who are wounding yourself in your passion, will the earth be given up because of you, or a rock be moved out of its place? | You who tear yourself in your anger, Shall the earth be forsaken for you? Or shall the rock be removed out of its place? | Thou that tearest thyself in thine anger, shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of its place? |
| Job 18:5 | Shall not the light of the wicked be extinguished, and the flame of his fire not shine? | For the light of the sinner is put out, and the flame of his fire is not shining. | "Yes, the light of the wicked shall be put out, The spark of his fire shall not shine. | Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the flame of his fire shall not shine. |
| Job 18:6 | The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him, shall be put out. | The light is dark in his tent, and the light shining over him is put out. | The light shall be dark in his tent, His lamp above him shall be put out. | The light shall become dark in his tent, and his lamp over him shall be put out. |
| Job 18:7 | The step of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down headlong. | The steps of his strength become short, and by his design destruction overtakes him. | The steps of his strength shall be shortened, His own counsel shall cast him down. | The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down. |
| Job 18:8 | For he hath thrust his feet into a net, and walketh in its meshes. | His feet take him into the net, and he goes walking into the cords. | For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he wanders into its mesh. | For he is sent into the net by his own feet, and he walketh on the meshes; |
| Job 18:9 | The sole of his foot shall be held in a snare, and thirst shall burn against him. | His foot is taken in the net; he comes into its grip. | A snare shall take him by the heel; A trap shall lay hold on him. | The gin taketh [him] by the heel, the snare layeth hold on him; |
| Job 18:10 | A gin is hidden for him in the earth, and his trap upon the path. | The twisted cord is put secretly in the earth to take him, and the cord is placed in his way. | A noose is hidden for him in the ground, A trap for him in the way. | A cord is hidden for him in the ground, and his trap in the way. |
| Job 18:11 | Fears shall terrify him on every side, and shall entangle his feet. | He is overcome by fears on every side, they go after him at every step. | Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, And shall chase him at his heels. | Terrors make him afraid on every side, and chase him at his footsteps. |
| Job 18:12 | Let his strength be wasted with famine, and let hunger invade his ribs. | His strength is made feeble for need of food, and destruction is waiting for his falling footstep. | His strength shall be famished, Calamity shall be ready at his side. | His strength is hunger-bitten, and calamity is ready at his side. |
| Job 18:13 | Let it devour the beauty of his skin, let the firstborn death consume his arms. | His skin is wasted by disease, and his body is food for the worst of diseases. | The members of his body shall be devoured, The firstborn of death shall devour his members. | The firstborn of death devoureth the members of his body; it will devour his members. |
| Job 18:14 | Let his confidence be rooted out of his tabernacle, and let destruction tread upon him like a king. | He is pulled out of his tent where he was safe, and he is taken away to the king of fears. | He shall be rooted out of his tent where he trusts. He shall be brought to the king of terrors. | His confidence shall be rooted out of his tent, and it shall lead him away to the king of terrors: |
| Job 18:15 | Let the companions of him that is not, dwell in his tabernacle, let brimstone be sprinkled in his tent. | In his tent will be seen that which is not his, burning stone is dropped on his house. | There shall dwell in his tent that which is none of his. Sulfur shall be scattered on his habitation. | They who are none of his shall dwell in his tent; brimstone shall be showered upon his habitation: |
| Job 18:16 | Let his roots be dried up beneath, and his harvest destroyed above. | Under the earth his roots are dry, and over it his branch is cut off. | His roots shall be dried up beneath, Above shall his branch be cut off. | His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off; |
| Job 18:17 | Let the memory of him perish from the earth and let not his name be renowned in the streets. | His memory is gone from the earth, and in the open country there is no knowledge of his name. | His memory shall perish from the earth. He shall have no name in the street. | His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name on the pasture-grounds. |
| Job 18:18 | He shall drive him out of light into darkness, and shall remove him out of the world. | He is sent away from the light into the dark; he is forced out of the world. | He shall be driven from light into darkness, And chased out of the world. | He is driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. |
| Job 18:19 | His seed shall not subsist, nor his offspring among his people, nor any remnants in his country. | He has no offspring or family among his people, and in his living-place there is no one of his name. | He shall have neither son nor grandson among his people, Nor any remaining where he sojourned. | He hath neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining in the places of his sojourn. |
| Job 18:20 | They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, and horror shall fall upon them that went before. | At his fate those of the west are shocked, and those of the east are overcome with fear. | Those who come after shall be astonished at his day, As those who went before were frightened. | They that come after shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before [them] were affrighted. |
| Job 18:21 | These men are the tabernacles of the wicked, and this the place of him that knoweth not God. | Truly, these are the houses of the sinner, and this is the place of him who has no knowledge of God. | Surely such are the dwellings of the unrighteous, This is the place of him who doesn't know God." | Surely, such are the dwellings of the unrighteous man, and such the place of him that knoweth not ùGod. |
