| Psalms 37:1 | A psalm for David, for a remembrance of the sabbath. | <Of David.> Do not be angry because of the wrongdoers, or have envy of the workers of evil. | Don't fret because of evil-doers, Neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness. | {[A Psalm] of David.} Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, and be not envious of them that work unrighteousness; |
| Psalms 37:2 | Rebuke me not, O Lord, in thy indignation; nor chastise me in thy wrath. | For they will quickly be cut down like grass, and become dry like the green plants. | For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither like the green herb. | for they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and fade as the green herb. |
| Psalms 37:3 | For thy arrows are fastened in me : and thy hand hath been strong upon me. | Have faith in the Lord, and do good; be at rest in the land, and go after righteousness. | Trust in Yahweh, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. | Confide in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on faithfulness; |
| Psalms 37:4 | There is no health in my flesh, because of thy wrath : there is no peace for my bones, because of my sins. | So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart's desires. | Also delight yourself in Yahweh, And he will give you the desires of your heart. | and delight thyself in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart. |
| Psalms 37:5 | For my iniquities are gone over my head : and as a heavy burden are become heavy upon me. | Put your life in the hands of the Lord; have faith in him and he will do it. | Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: | Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass; |
| Psalms 37:6 | My sores are putrified and corrupted, because of my foolishness. | And he will make your righteousness be seen like the light, and your cause like the shining of the sun. | He will make your righteousness go forth as the light, And your justice as the noon day sun. | and he will bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. |
| Psalms 37:7 | I am become miserable, and am bowed down even to the end : I walked sorrowful all the day long. | Take your rest in the Lord, waiting quietly for him; do not be angry because of the man who does well in his evil ways, and gives effect to his bad designs. | Rest in Yahweh, and wait patiently for him. Don't fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who makes wicked plots happen. | Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him that prospereth in his way, because of the man that bringeth mischievous devices to pass. |
| Psalms 37:8 | For my loins are filled with illusions; and there is no health in my flesh. | Put an end to your wrath and be no longer bitter; do not give way to angry feeling which is a cause of sin. | Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Don't fret, it leads only to evildoing. | Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself: it [would be] only to do evil. |
| Psalms 37:9 | I am afflicted and humbled exceedingly : I roared with the groaning of my heart. | For the evil-doers will be cut off: but those who have faith in the Lord will have the earth for their heritage. | For evildoers shall be cut off, But those who wait for Yahweh, they shall inherit the land. | For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait on Jehovah, they shall possess the land. |
| Psalms 37:10 | Lord, all my desire is before thee, and my groaning is not hidden from thee. | For in a short time the evil-doer will be gone: you will go searching for his place, and it will not be there. | For yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look for his place, he isn't there. | For yet a little while, and the wicked is not; and thou considerest his place, but he is not. |
| Psalms 37:11 | My heart is troubled, my strength hath left me, and the light of my eyes itself is not with me. | But the gentle will have the earth for their heritage; they will take their delight in peace without measure. | But the humble shall inherit the land, And shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. | But the meek shall possess the land, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of prosperity. |
| Psalms 37:12 | My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off : | The sinner has evil designs against the upright, lifting up the voice of wrath against him. | The wicked plots against the just, And gnashes at him with his teeth. | The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth his teeth against him. |
| Psalms 37:13 | And they that sought my soul used violence. And they that sought evils to me spoke vain things, and studied deceits all the day long. | He will be laughed at by the Lord, who sees that his day is coming. | The Lord will laugh at him, For he sees that his day is coming. | The Lord laugheth at him; for he seeth that his day is coming. |
| Psalms 37:14 | But I, as a deaf man, heard not : and as a dumb man not opening his mouth. | The evil-doers have taken out their swords, their bows are bent; for crushing the poor, and to put to death those who are upright in their ways. | The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, To cast down the poor and needy, To kill those who are upright in the way. | The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the afflicted and needy, to slay those that are upright in [the] way: |
| Psalms 37:15 | And I became as a man that heareth not : and that hath no reproofs in his mouth. | But their swords will be turned into their hearts, and their bows will be broken. | Their sword shall enter into their own heart. Their bows shall be broken. | their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. |
| Psalms 37:16 | For in thee, O Lord, have I hoped : thou wilt hear me, O Lord my God. | The little which the good man has is better than the wealth of evil-doers. | Better is a little that the righteous has, Than the abundance of many wicked. | The little that the righteous hath is better than the abundance of many wicked; |
| Psalms 37:17 | For I said: Lest at any time my enemies rejoice over me : and whilst my feet are moved, they speak great things against me. | For the arms of the evil-doers will be broken: but the Lord is the support of the good. | For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But Yahweh upholds the righteous. | for the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but Jehovah upholdeth the righteous. |
| Psalms 37:18 | For I am ready for scourges : and my sorrow is continually before me. | The days of the upright are numbered by the Lord, and their heritage will be for ever. | Yahweh knows the days of the perfect. Their inheritance shall be forever. | Jehovah knoweth the days of the perfect; and their inheritance shall be for ever: |
| Psalms 37:19 | For I will declare my inequity : and I will think for my sin. | They will not be shamed in the evil time, and in the days when all are in need of food they will have enough. | They shall not be put to shame in the time of evil. In the days of famine they shall be satisfied. | they shall not be ashamed in the time of evil, and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. |
| Psalms 37:20 | But my enemies live, and are stronger that I : and they hate me wrongfully are multiplied. | But the wrongdoers will come to destruction, and the haters of the Lord will be like the fat of lambs, they will be burned up; they will go up in smoke, and never again be seen. | But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish Vanish like smoke. | For the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Jehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume, like smoke shall they consume away. |
| Psalms 37:21 | They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness. | The sinner takes money and does not give it back; but the upright man has mercy, and gives to others. | The wicked borrow, and don't pay back, But the righteous give generously. | The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again; but the righteous is gracious and giveth: |
| Psalms 37:22 | Forsake me not, O Lord my God : do not thou depart from me. | Those who have his blessing will have the earth for their heritage; but those who are cursed by him will be cut off. | For such as are blessed by him shall inherit the land. Those who are cursed by him shall be cut off. | for those blessed of him shall possess the land, and they that are cursed of him shall be cut off. |
| Psalms 37:23 | Attend unto my help, O Lord, the God of my salvation. | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and he takes delight in his way. | A man's goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. | The steps of a man are established by Jehovah, and he delighteth in his way: |
