Psalms 60:1Unto the end, in hymns, for David.<To the chief music-maker; put to Shushan-eduth. Michtam. Of David. For teaching. When he was fighting against Aram-naharaim and Aramzobah, when Joab came back, and put twelve thousand of the Edomites to death, in the Valley of Salt.> God, you have put us away from you, you have sent us in all directions, you have been angry; O be turned to us again.God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us to you, again.{To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand.} O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again.
Psalms 60:2Hear, O God, my supplication: be attentive to my prayer,By the power of your hand the earth is shaking and broken; make it strong again, for it is moved.You have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, For it quakes.Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
Psalms 60:3To thee have I cried from the ends of the earth: when my heart was in anguish, thou hast exalted me on a rock. Thou hast conducted me;You have made the people see hard times; you have given us the wine of shaking for our drink.You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment.
Psalms 60:4for thou hast been my hope; a tower of strength against the face of the enemy.Give a safe place to those who have fear of you, where they may go in flight from before the bow. (Selah.)You have given a banner to those who fear you, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,)
Psalms 60:5In thy tabernacle I shall dwell for ever: I shall be protected under the covert of thy wings.So that your loved ones may be made safe, let your right hand be my salvation, and give me an answer.So that your beloved may be delivered, Save with your right hand, and answer us.That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me.
Psalms 60:6For thou, my God, hast heard my prayer: thou hast given an inheritance to them that fear thy name.God has said in his holy place, I will be glad: I will make a division of Shechem, and the valley of Succoth will be measured out.God has spoken from his sanctuary: "I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, And measure out the valley of Succoth.God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Psalms 60:7Thou wilt add days to the days of the king: his years even to generation and generation.Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter.Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;
Psalms 60:8He abideth for ever in the sight of God: his mercy and truth who shall search ?Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I put out my shoe; over Philistia will a glad cry be sounded.Moab is my wash basin. I will throw my shoe on Edom. I shout in triumph over Philistia."Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me.
Psalms 60:9So will I sing a psalm to thy name for ever and ever: that I may pay my vows from day to day.Who will take me into the strong town? who will be my guide into Edom?Who will bring me into the strong city? Who has led me to Edom?Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom?
