Psalms 90:1The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.<A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.> Lord, you have been our resting-place in all generations.Lord, you have been our dwelling place In all generations.{A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.} Lord, *thou* hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
Psalms 90:2He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust. Before the mountains were made, before you had given birth to the earth and the world, before time was, and for ever, you are God.Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever you had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.Before the mountains were brought forth, and thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from eternity to eternity thou art ùGod.
Psalms 90:3For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word. You send man back to his dust; and say, Go back, you children of men.You turn man to destruction, saying, "Return, you children of men."Thou makest [mortal] man to return to dust, and sayest, Return, children of men.
Psalms 90:4He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust. For to you a thousand years are no more than yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. For a thousand years in your sight Are but as yesterday when it is past, As a watch in the night. For a thousand years, in thy sight, are as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
Psalms 90:5His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night....You sweep them away as they sleep. In the morning they sprout like new grass.Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning they are like grass [that] groweth up:
Psalms 90:6Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil. In the morning it is green; in the evening it is cut down, and becomes dry.In the morning it sprouts and springs up. By evening, it is withered and dry.In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down and withereth.
Psalms 90:7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee.We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath. For we are consumed in your anger. We are troubled in your wrath. For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy fury are we troubled.
Psalms 90:8But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked. You have put our evil doings before you, our secret sins in the light of your face. You have set our iniquities before you, Our secret sins in the light of your presence.Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
Psalms 90:9Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge. For all our days have gone by in your wrath; our years come to an end like a breath. For all our days have passed away in your wrath. We bring our years to an end as a sigh. For all our days pass away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a [passing] thought.
Psalms 90:10There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling. The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone. The days of our years are seventy, Or even by reason of strength eighty years; Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, For it passes quickly, and we fly away. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if, by reason of strength, they be fourscore years, yet their pride is labour and vanity, for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Psalms 90:11For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion?Who knows the power of your anger, Your wrath according to the fear that is due to you?Who knoweth the power of thine anger? and thy wrath according to the fear of thee?
Psalms 90:12In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom. So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. So teach [us] to number our days, that we may acquire a wise heart.
Psalms 90:13Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon.Come back, O Lord; how long? let your purpose for your servants be changed.Relent, Yahweh! How long? Have compassion on your servants.Return, Jehovah: how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Psalms 90:14Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name.In the morning give us your mercy in full measure; so that we may have joy and delight all our days.Satisfy us in the morning with your lovingkindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.Satisfy us early with thy loving-kindness; that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Psalms 90:15He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.Make us glad in reward for the days of our sorrow, and for the years in which we have seen evil.Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, For as many years as we have seen evil.Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, according to the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
Psalms 90:16I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.Make your work clear to your servants, and your glory to their children.Let your work appear to your servants; Your glory to their children.Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy majesty unto their sons.
