| Psalms 27:1 | A psalm for David himself. Unto thee will I cry, O Lord: O my God, be not thou silent to me: lest thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. | <Of David.> The Lord is my light and my salvation; who is then a cause of fear to me? the Lord is the strength of my life; who is a danger to me? | Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? | |
| Psalms 27:2 | Hear, O Lord, the voice of my supplication, when I pray to thee; when I lift up my hands to thy holy temple. | When evil-doers, even my haters, came on me to put an end to me, they were broken and put to shame. | When evil-doers came at me to eat up my flesh, Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. | |
| Psalms 27:3 | Draw me not away together with the wicked; and with the workers of iniquity destroy me not: Who speak peace with their neighbour, but evils are in their hearts. | Even if an army came against me with its tents, my heart would have no fear: if war was made on me, my faith would not be moved. | Though a host should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear. | Psalms 27:5 | Because they have not understood the works of the Lord, and the operations of his hands: thou shalt destroy them, and shalt not build them up. | For in the time of trouble he will keep me safe in his tent: in the secret place of his tent he will keep me from men's eyes; high on a rock he will put me. | For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion.
