| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:1 | And we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him: | Now as to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and our meeting with him, it is our desire, my brothers, |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:2 | That you be not easily moved from your sense, nor be terrified, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as sent from us, as if the day of the Lord were at hand. | That you may not be moved in mind or troubled by a spirit, or by a word, or by a letter as from us, with the suggestion that the day of the Lord is even now come; |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:3 | Let no man deceive you by any means, for unless there come a revolt first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, | Give no belief to false words: because there will first be a falling away from the faith, and the revelation of the man of sin, the son of destruction, |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:4 | Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God. | Who puts himself against all authority, lifting himself up over all which is named God or is given worship; so that he takes his seat in the Temple of God, putting himself forward as God. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:5 | Remember you not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? | Have you no memory of what I said when I was with you, giving you word of these things? |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:6 | And now you know what withholdeth, that he may be revealed in his time. | And now it is clear to you what is keeping back his revelation till the time comes for him to be seen. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:7 | For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only that he who now holdeth, do hold, until he be taken out of the way. | For the secret of evil is even now at work: but there is one who is keeping back the evil till he is taken out of the way. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:8 | And then that wicked one shall be revealed whom the Lord Jesus shall kill with the spirit of his mouth; and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, him, | And then will come the revelation of that evil one, whom the Lord Jesus will put to death with the breath of his mouth, and give to destruction by the revelation of his coming; |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:9 | Whose coming is according to the working of Satan, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, | Even the one whose coming is marked by the working of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders, |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:10 | And in all seduction of iniquity to them that perish; because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. Therefore God shall send them the operation of error, to believe lying: | And with every deceit of wrongdoing among those whose fate is destruction; because they were quite without that love of the true faith by which they might have salvation. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:11 | That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity. | And for this cause, God will give them up to the power of deceit and they will put their faith in what is false: |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:12 | But we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of God, for that God hath chosen you firstfruits unto salvation, in sanctification of the spirit, and faith of the truth: | So that they all may be judged, who had no faith in what is true, but took pleasure in evil. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:13 | Whereunto also he hath called you by our gospel, unto the purchasing of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. | But it is right for us to give praise to God at all times for you, brothers, loved by the Lord, because it was the purpose of God from the first that you might have salvation, being made holy by the Spirit and by faith in what is true: |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:14 | Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle. | And in this purpose he gave you a part through the good news of which we were the preachers, even that you might have part in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:15 | Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God and our Father, who hathloved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope in grace, | So then, brothers, be strong in purpose, and keep the teaching which has been given to you by word or by letter from us. |
| 2nd-Thessalonians 2:16 | Exhort your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word. | Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who had love for us and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, |
