| Proverbs 13:1 | A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved. | A wise son is a lover of teaching, but the ears of the haters of authority are shut to sharp words. |
| Proverbs 13:2 | Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked. | A man will get good from the fruit of his lips, but the desire of the false is for violent acts. |
| Proverbs 13:3 | He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils. | He who keeps a watch on his mouth keeps his life; but he whose lips are open wide will have destruction. |

| Proverbs 13:10 | Among the proud there are always contentions: but they that do all things with counsel, are ruled by wisdom. | The only effect of pride is fighting; but wisdom is with the quiet in spirit. |
| Proverbs 13:11 | Substance got in haste shall be diminished: but that which by little and little is gathered with the hand shall increase. | Wealth quickly got will become less; but he who gets a store by the work of his hands will have it increased. |
| Proverbs 13:12 | Hope that is deferred afflicteth the soul: desire when it cometh is a tree of life. | Hope put off is a weariness to the heart; but when what is desired comes, it is a tree of life. |
| Proverbs 13:13 | Whosoever speaketh ill of any thing, bindeth himself for the time to come: but he that feareth the commandment, shall dwell in peace. Deceitful souls go astray in sins: the just are merciful, and shew mercy. | He who makes sport of the word will come to destruction, but the respecter of the law will be rewarded. |
| Proverbs 13:14 | The law of the wise is a fountain of life, that he may decline from the ruin of death. | The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning men away from the nets of death. |

| Proverbs 13:18 | Poverty and shame to him that refuseth instruction: but he that yieldeth to reproof, shall be glorified. | Need and shame will be the fate of him who is uncontrolled by training; but he who takes note of teaching will be honoured. |
| Proverbs 13:19 | The desire that is accomplished, delighteth the soul: fools hate them that flee from evil things. | To get one's desire is sweet to the soul, but to give up evil is disgusting to the foolish. |
