| Psalms 10:1 | Why, O Lord, hast thou retired afar off? why dost thou slight us in our wants, in the time of trouble? | Why, Jehovah, standest thou afar off? [Why] hidest thou thyself in times of distress? | Why do you keep far away, O Lord? why are you not to be seen in times of trouble? | Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? |
| Psalms 10:1 | Unto the end. A psalm for David. | The wicked, in his pride, doth hotly pursue the afflicted. They shall be taken in the devices that they have imagined. | The evil-doer in his pride is cruel to the poor; let him be taken by the tricks of his invention. | The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. |
| Psalms 10:2 | In the Lord I put my trust: how then do you say to my soul: Get thee away from hence to the mountain like a sparrow? | For the wicked boasteth of his soul's desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah. | For the evil-doer is lifted up because of the purpose of his heart, and he whose mind is fixed on wealth is turned away from the Lord, saying evil against him. | For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth. |
| Psalms 10:2 | Whilst the wicked man is proud, the poor is set on fire: they are caught in the counsels which they devise. | The wicked [saith], in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God! | The evil-doer in his pride says, God will not make a search. All his thoughts are, There is no God. | The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. |
| Psalms 10:3 | For the sinner is praised in the desires of his soul: and the unjust man is blessed. | His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; [as for] all his adversaries, he puffeth at them. | His ways are ever fixed; your decisions are higher than he may see: as for his haters, they are as nothing to him. | His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. |
| Psalms 10:3 | For, lo, the wicked have bent their bow; they have prepared their arrows in the quiver; to shoot in the dark the upright of heart. | He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall be in no adversity. | He has said in his heart, I will not be moved: through all generations I will never be in trouble. | He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. |
| Psalms 10:4 | For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done? | His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. | His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and false words: under his tongue are evil purposes and dark thoughts. | His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. |
| Psalms 10:4 | The sinner hath provoked the Lord according to the multitude of his wrath he will not seek him: | He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched. | He is waiting in the dark places of the towns: in the secret places he puts to death those who have done no wrong: his eyes are secretly turned against the poor. | He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. |
| Psalms 10:5 | God is not before his eyes: his ways are filthy at all times. Thy judgments are removed from his sight: he shall rule over all his enemies. | He lieth in wait secretly, like a lion in his thicket; he lieth in wait to catch the afflicted: he doth catch the afflicted, drawing him into his net. | He keeps himself in a secret place like a lion in his hole, waiting to put his hands on the poor man, and pulling him into his net. | He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. |
| Psalms 10:5 | The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look on the poor man: his eyelids examine the sons of men. | He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones. | The upright are crushed and made low, and the feeble are overcome by his strong ones. | He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. |
| Psalms 10:6 | The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul. | He saith in his heart, ùGod hath forgotten, he hideth his face, he will never see [it]. | He says in his heart, God has no memory of me: his face is turned away; he will never see it. | He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it. |
| Psalms 10:6 | For he hath said in his heart: I shall not be moved from generation to generation, and shall be without evil. | Arise, Jehovah; O ùGod, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted. | Up! O Lord; let your hand be lifted: give thought to the poor. | Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thy hand: forget not the humble. |
| Psalms 10:7 | His mouth is full of cursing, and of bitterness, and of deceit: under his tongue are labour and sorrow. | Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require [it]. | Why has the evil-doer a low opinion of God, saying in his heart, You will not make search for it? | Why doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it. |
| Psalms 10:7 | He shall rain snares upon sinners: fire and brimstone and storms of winds shall be the portion of their cup. | Thou hast seen [it], for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless. | You have seen it; for your eyes are on sorrow and grief, to take it into your hand: the poor man puts his faith in you; you have been the helper of the child who has no father. | Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself to thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless. |
| Psalms 10:8 | For the Lord is just, and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness. | Break thou the arm of the wicked, and as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness [till] thou find none. | Let the arm of the sinner and the evil-doer be broken; go on searching for his sin till there is no more. | Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou shalt find none. |
| Psalms 10:8 | He sitteth in ambush with the rich in private places, that he may kill the innocent. | Jehovah is King for ever and ever: the nations have perished out of his land. | The Lord is King for ever and ever; the nations are gone from his land. | The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen have perished out of his land. |
| Psalms 10:9 | His eyes are upon the poor man: He lieth in wait in secret like a lion in his den. He lieth in ambush that he may catch the poor man: to catch the poor, whilst he draweth him to him. | Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek, thou hast established their heart: thou causest thine ear to hear, | Lord, you have given ear to the prayer of the poor: you will make strong their hearts, you will give them a hearing: | LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thy ear to hear: |
| Psalms 10:10 | In his net he will bring him down, he will crouch and fall, when he shall have power over the poor. | To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed one, that the man of the earth may terrify no more. | To give decision for the child without a father and for the broken-hearted, so that the man of the earth may no longer be feared. | To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress. |
| Psalms 10:11 | For he hath said in his heart: God hath forgotten, he hath turned away his face not to see to the end. | | | |
| Psalms 10:12 | Arise, O Lord God, let thy hand be exalted: forget not the poor. | | | |
| Psalms 10:13 | Wherefore hath the wicked provoked God? for he hath said in his heart: He will not require it. | | | |
| Psalms 10:14 | Thou seest it, for thou considerest labour and sorrow: that thou mayst deliver them into thy hands. To thee is the poor man left: thou wilt be a helper to the orphan. | | | |
| Psalms 10:15 | Break thou the arm of the sinner and of the malignant: his sin shall be sought, and shall not be found. | | | |
| Psalms 10:16 | The Lord shall reign to eternity, yea, for ever and ever: ye Gentiles shall perish from his land. | | | |
| Psalms 10:17 | The Lord hath heard the desire of the poor: thy ear hath heard the preparation of their heart. | | | |
| Psalms 10:18 | To judge for the fatherless and for the humble, that man may no more presume to magnify himself upon earth. | | | |
