Psalms 36:1A psalm for David himself. Be not emulous of evildoers; nor envy them that work iniquity.{To the chief Musician. [A Psalm] of the servant of Jehovah; of David.} The transgression of the wicked uttereth within my heart, There is no fear of God before his eyes.<To the chief music-maker. Of the servant of the Lord. Of David.> The sin of the evil-doer says in his heart, There is no fear of the Lord before his eyes.To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD. The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
Psalms 36:2For they shall shortly wither away as grass, and as the green herbs shall quickly fall. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, [even] when his iniquity is found to be hateful. For he takes comfort in the thought that his sin will not be uncovered and hated. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity is found to be hateful.
Psalms 36:3Trust in the Lord, and do good, and dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed with its riches. The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, to do good.In the words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has given up being wise and doing good. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath ceased to be wise, and to do good.
Psalms 36:4Delight in the Lord, and he will give thee the requests of thy heart. He deviseth wickedness up on his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good: he abhorreth not evil.He gives thought to evil on his bed; he takes a way which is not good; he is not a hater of evil.He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
Psalms 36:5Commit thy way to the Lord, and trust in him, and he will do it.Jehovah, thy loving-kindness is in the heavens, and thy faithfulness [reacheth] unto the clouds.Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens, and your strong purpose is as high as the clouds.Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth to the clouds.
Psalms 36:6And he will bring forth thy justice as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.Thy righteousness is like the high mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: thou, Jehovah, preservest man and beast.Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judging is like the great deep; O Lord, you give life to man and beast.Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.
Psalms 36:7Be subject to the Lord and pray to him Envy not the man who prospereth in his way; the man who doth unjust things. How precious is thy loving-kindness, O God! So the sons of men take refuge under the shadow of thy wings. How good is your loving mercy, O God! the children of men take cover under the shade of your wings. How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
Psalms 36:8Cease from anger, and leave rage; have no emulation to do evil. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou wilt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. The delights of your house will be showered on them; you will give them drink from the river of your pleasures. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
Psalms 36:9For the evildoers shall be cut off : but they that wait upon the Lord shall inherit the land. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. For with you is the fountain of life: in your light we will see light. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
Psalms 36:10For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be : and thou shalt seek his place, and shalt not find it.Continue thy loving-kindness unto them that know thee, and thy righteousness to the upright in heart;O let there be no end to your loving mercy to those who have knowledge of you, or of your righteousness to the upright in heart.O continue thy loving-kindness to them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
Psalms 36:11But the meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace.Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.Let not the foot of pride come against me, or the hand of the evil-doers put me out of my place.Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
Psalms 36:12The sinner shall watch the just man : and shall gnash upon him with his teeth. There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and are not able to rise. There the workers of evil have come down: they have been made low, and will not be lifted up.There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
