Psalms 54:1Unto the end, in verses, understanding for David.{To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David; when the Ziphites came, and said to Saul, Is not David hiding himself with us?} O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength do me justice.<To the chief music-maker; on Neginoth. Maschil. Of David. When the Ziphites came and said to Saul, Is not David keeping himself secret among us?> Let your name be my salvation, O God; let my cause be judged by your strength.To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
Psalms 54:2Hear, O God, my prayer, and despise not my supplication:O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.Let my prayer come before you, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
Psalms 54:2the same are darts.For strangers are risen up against me, and the violent seek after my life: they have not set God before them. Selah.For men who are going after me have come out against me, violent men are purposing to take my soul; they have not put God before their eyes. (Selah.)For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.
Psalms 54:3be attentive to me and hear me. I am grieved in my exercise; and am troubled,Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is among them that uphold my soul.See, God is my helper: the Lord is the great supporter of my soul.Behold, God is my helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
Psalms 54:4at the voice of the enemy, and at the tribulation of the sinner. For they have cast iniquities upon me: and in wrath they were troublesome to me.He will requite evil to mine enemies: in thy truth cut them off.Let the evil works of my haters come back on them again; let them be cut off by your good faith.He will reward evil to my enemies; cut them off in thy truth.
Psalms 54:5My heart is troubled within me: and the fear of death is fallen upon me.I will freely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy name, O Jehovah, because it is good.Freely will I make my offerings to you; I will give praise to your name, O Lord, for it is good.I will freely sacrifice to thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
Psalms 54:6Fear and trembling are come upon me: and darkness hath covered me.For he hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath seen [its desire] upon mine enemies.Because it has been my saviour from all my trouble; and my eyes have seen the punishment of my haters.For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and my eye hath seen its desire upon my enemies.
Psalms 54:7And I said: Who will give me wings like a dove, and I will fly and be at rest?
Psalms 54:8Lo, I have gone far off flying away; and I abode in the wilderness.
Psalms 54:9I waited for him that hath saved me from pusillanimity of spirit, and a storm.
Psalms 54:10Cast down, O Lord, and divide their tongues; for I have seen iniquity and contradiction in the city.
Psalms 54:11Day and night shall iniquity surround it upon its walls: and in the midst thereof are labour,
Psalms 54:12and injustice. And usury and deceit have not departed from its streets.
Psalms 54:13For if my enemy had reviled me, I would verily have borne with it. And if he that hated me had spoken great things against me, I would perhaps have hidden myself from him.
Psalms 54:14But thou a man of one mind, my guide, and my familiar,
Psalms 54:15Who didst take sweetmeats together with me: in the house of God we walked with consent.
Psalms 54:16Let death come upon them, and let them go down alive into hell. For there is wickedness in their dwellings: in the midst of them.
Psalms 54:17But I have cried to God: and the Lord will save me.
Psalms 54:18Evening and morning, and at noon I will speak and declare: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalms 54:19He shall redeem my soul in peace from them that draw near to me: for among many they were with me.
Psalms 54:20God shall hear, and the Eternal shall humble them. For there is no change with them, and they have not feared God:
Psalms 54:21he hath stretched forth his hand to repay. They have defiled his covenant,
Psalms 54:22they are divided by the wrath Of his countenance, and his heart hath drawn near. His words are smoother than oil, and
Psalms 54:23Cast thy care upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall not suffer the just to waver for ever.
Psalms 54:24But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee, O Lord.
