Psalms 58:1Unto the end, destroy not, for David for an inscription of It title, when Saul sent and watched his house to kill him.{To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' Of David. Michtam.} Is righteousness indeed silent? Do ye speak it? Do ye judge with equity, ye sons of men?<To the chief music-maker; put to Al-tashheth. Michtam. Of David.> Is there righteousness in your mouths, O you gods? are you upright judges, O you sons of men?
Psalms 58:2Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; and defend me from them that rise up against me.Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.The purposes of your hearts are evil; your hands are full of cruel doings on the earth.
Psalms 58:3Deliver me from them that work iniquity, and save me from bloody men.The wicked go astray from the womb; they err as soon as they are born, speaking lies.The evil-doers are strange from the first; from the hour of their birth they go out of the true way, saying false words.
Psalms 58:4For behold they have caught my soul: the mighty have rushed in upon me:Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder which stoppeth her ear;Their poison is like the poison of a snake; they are like the adder, whose ears are shut;
Psalms 58:5Neither is it my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord: without iniquity have I run, and directed my steps.Which doth not hearken to the voice of enchanters, of one charming ever so wisely.Who will not be moved by the voice of the wonder-worker, however great are his powers.
Psalms 58:6Rise up thou to meet me, and behold: even thou, O Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel. Attend to visit all the nations: have no mercy on all them that work iniquity.O God, break their teeth in their mouth; break out the great teeth of the young lions, O Jehovah.O God, let their teeth be broken in their mouths; let the great teeth of the young lions be pulled out, O Lord.
Psalms 58:7They shall return at evening, and shall suffer hunger like dogs: and shall go round about the city.Let them melt away as waters that flow off; when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as blunted:Let them be turned to liquid like the ever-flowing waters; let them be cut off like the grass by the way.
Psalms 58:8Behold they shall speak with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips: for who, say they, hath heard us ?Let them be as a snail that melteth as it passeth away; [like] the untimely birth of a woman, let them not see the sun.Let them be like an after-birth which is turned to water and comes to an end; like the fruit of a woman who gives birth before her time, let them not see the sun.
Psalms 58:9But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them: thou shalt bring all the nations to nothing.Before your pots feel the thorns, green or burning, they shall be whirled away.Before they are conscious of it, let them be cut down like thorns; let a strong wind take them away like waste growth.
Psalms 58:10I will keep my strength to thee: for thou art my protector:The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance; he shall wash his footsteps in the blood of the wicked:The upright man will be glad when he sees their punishment; his feet will be washed in the blood of the evil-doer.
Psalms 58:11my God, his mercy shall prevent me.And men shall say, Verily there is fruit for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.So that men will say, Truly there is a reward for righteousness; truly there is a God who is judge on the earth.
Psalms 58:12God shall let me see over my enemies: slay them not, lest at any time my people forget. Scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord, my protector:
Psalms 58:13For the sin of their mouth, and the word of their lips: and let them be taken in their pride. And for their cursing and lying they shall be talked of,
Psalms 58:14when they are consumed: when they are consumed by thy wrath, and they shall be no more. And they shall know that God will rule Jacob, and all the ends of the earth.
Psalms 58:15They shall return at evening and shall suffer hunger like dogs: and shall go round about the city.
Psalms 58:16They shall be scattered abroad to eat, and shall murmur if they be not filled.
Psalms 58:17But I will sing thy strength: and will extol thy mercy in the morning. For thou art become my support, and my refuge, in the day of my trouble.
Psalms 58:18Unto thee, O my helper, will I sing, for thou art God my defence: my God my mercy.
