Psalms 51:1Unto the end, understanding for David,{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David; when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.} Be gracious unto me, O God, according to thy loving-kindness; according to the abundance of thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.<To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David. When Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.> Have pity on me, O God, in your mercy; out of a full heart, take away my sin.To the Overseer. A Psalm of David, in the coming inn unto him of Nathan the prophet, when he hath gone in unto Bath-Sheba. Favour me, O God, according to Thy kindness, According to the abundance of Thy mercies, Blot out my transgressions.
Psalms 51:2when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul David went to the house of AchimelechWash me fully from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.Let all my wrongdoing be washed away, and make me clean from evil.Thoroughly wash me from mine iniquity, And from my sin cleanse me,
Psalms 51:3Why dost thou glory in malice, thou that art mighty in iniquity? For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is continually before me.For I am conscious of my error; my sin is ever before me.For my transgressions I do know, And my sin [is] before me continually.
Psalms 51:4All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest.Against you, you only, have I done wrong, working that which is evil in your eyes; so that your words may be seen to be right, and you may be clear when you are judging.Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned, And done the evil thing in Thine eyes, So that Thou art righteous in Thy words, Thou art pure in Thy judging.
Psalms 51:5Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.Behold, in iniquity was I brought forth, and in sin did my mother conceive me.Truly, I was formed in evil, and in sin did my mother give me birth.Lo, in iniquity I have been brought forth, And in sin doth my mother conceive me.
Psalms 51:6Thou hast loved all the words of ruin, O deceitful tongue.Behold, thou wilt have truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden [part] thou wilt make me to know wisdom.Your desire is for what is true in the inner parts: in the secrets of my soul you will give me knowledge of wisdom.Lo, truth Thou hast desired in the inward parts, And in the hidden part Wisdom Thou causest me to know.
Psalms 51:7Therefore will God destroy thee for ever: he will pluck thee out, and remove thee from thy dwelling place: and thy root out of the land of the living.Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.Make me free from sin with hyssop: let me be washed whiter than snow.Thou cleansest me with hyssop and I am clean, Washest me, and than snow I am whiter.
Psalms 51:8The just shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, and say:Make me to hear gladness and joy; [that] the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.Make me full of joy and rapture; so that the bones which have been broken may be glad.Thou causest me to hear joy and gladness, Thou makest joyful bones Thou hast bruised.
Psalms 51:9Behold the man that made not God his helper: But trusted in the abundance of his riches: and prevailed in his vanity.Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.Let your face be turned from my wrongdoing, and take away all my sins.Hide Thy face from my sin. And all mine iniquities blot out.
Psalms 51:10But I, as a fruitful olive tree in the house of God, have hoped in the mercy of God for ever, yea for ever and ever.Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.Make a clean heart in me, O God; give me a right spirit again.A clean heart prepare for me, O God, And a right spirit renew within me.
Psalms 51:11I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name, for it is good in the sight of thy saints.Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not the spirit of thy holiness from me.Do not put me away from before you, or take your holy spirit from me.Cast me not forth from Thy presence, And Thy Holy Spirit take not from me.
