Psalms 10:1Why, O Lord, hast thou retired afar off? why dost thou slight us in our wants, in the time of trouble? Why, Jehovah, standest thou afar off? [Why] hidest thou thyself in times of distress? Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
Psalms 10:1Unto the end. A psalm for David. The wicked, in his pride, doth hotly pursue the afflicted. They shall be taken in the devices that they have imagined. In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak; They are caught in the schemes that they devise. The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Psalms 10:2In the Lord I put my trust: how then do you say to my soul: Get thee away from hence to the mountain like a sparrow? For the wicked boasteth of his soul's desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah. For the wicked boasts of his heart's cravings, He blesses the greedy, and condemns Yahweh. For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
Psalms 10:2Whilst the wicked man is proud, the poor is set on fire: they are caught in the counsels which they devise. The wicked [saith], in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God!The wicked, in the pride of his face, Has no room in his thoughts for God.The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Psalms 10:3For the sinner is praised in the desires of his soul: and the unjust man is blessed. His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; [as for] all his adversaries, he puffeth at them. His ways are prosperous at all times; He is haughty, and your laws are far from his sight: As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
Psalms 10:3For, lo, the wicked have bent their bow; they have prepared their arrows in the quiver; to shoot in the dark the upright of heart. He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall be in no adversity. He says in his heart, "I shall not be shaken; For generations I shall have no trouble."He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
Psalms 10:4For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done? His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Psalms 10:4The sinner hath provoked the Lord according to the multitude of his wrath he will not seek him:He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched. He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless. He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
Psalms 10:5God is not before his eyes: his ways are filthy at all times. Thy judgments are removed from his sight: he shall rule over all his enemies. He lieth in wait secretly, like a lion in his thicket; he lieth in wait to catch the afflicted: he doth catch the afflicted, drawing him into his net.He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
Psalms 10:5The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look on the poor man: his eyelids examine the sons of men.He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones. The helpless are crushed, they collapse, They fall under his strength. He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
Psalms 10:6The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.He saith in his heart, ùGod hath forgotten, he hideth his face, he will never see [it].He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it."He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
Psalms 10:6For he hath said in his heart: I shall not be moved from generation to generation, and shall be without evil.Arise, Jehovah; O ùGod, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted.Arise, Yahweh! God, lift up your hand! Don't forget the helpless.Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thy hand: forget not the humble.
Psalms 10:7His mouth is full of cursing, and of bitterness, and of deceit: under his tongue are labour and sorrow.Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require [it].Why does the wicked condemn God, And say in his heart, "God won't call me into account?"Why doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
Psalms 10:7He shall rain snares upon sinners: fire and brimstone and storms of winds shall be the portion of their cup.Thou hast seen [it], for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless. But you do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself to thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
Psalms 10:8For the Lord is just, and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness.Break thou the arm of the wicked, and as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness [till] thou find none.Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou shalt find none.
Psalms 10:8He sitteth in ambush with the rich in private places, that he may kill the innocent.Jehovah is King for ever and ever: the nations have perished out of his land.Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land. The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen have perished out of his land.
Psalms 10:9His eyes are upon the poor man: He lieth in wait in secret like a lion in his den. He lieth in ambush that he may catch the poor man: to catch the poor, whilst he draweth him to him.Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek, thou hast established their heart: thou causest thine ear to hear,Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thy ear to hear:
