Psalms 76:1Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph. In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel. To the Overseer with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah [is] God known, in Israel His name [is] great.
Psalms 76:2I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion. His tent is also in Salem; His dwelling-place in Zion. And His tabernacle is in Salem, And His habitation in Zion.
Psalms 76:3In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah. There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, The shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah. There he hath shivered arrows of a bow, Shield, and sword, and battle. Selah.
Psalms 76:4I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.Glorious are you, and excellent, More than mountains of game.Bright [art] Thou, honourable above hills of prey.
Psalms 76:5My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.Valiant men lie plundered, They have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.Spoiled themselves have the mighty of heart, They have slept their sleep, And none of the men of might found their hands.
Psalms 76:6I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years. At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep. At your rebuke, God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep. From Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse have been fast asleep.
Psalms 76:7And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?Thou, fearful [art] Thou, And who doth stand before Thee, Since Thou hast been angry!
Psalms 76:8Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again?Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,You pronounced judgment from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent,From heaven Thou hast sounded judgment, Earth hath feared, and hath been still,
Psalms 76:9Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation? When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. When God arose to judgment, To save all the afflicted ones of the earth. Selah. In the rising of God to judgment, To save all the humble of earth. Selah.
Psalms 76:10Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies?Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained. For the fierceness of man praiseth Thee, The remnant of fierceness Thou girdest on.
Psalms 76:11And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.Vow and complete to Jehovah your God, All ye surrounding him. They bring presents to the Fearful One.
Psalms 76:12I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning. He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth. He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth. Psalm 77 For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by Asaph. He doth gather the spirit of leaders, Fearful to the kings of earth!
Psalms 76:13And I will meditate on all thy works: and will be employed in thy inventions.
