Psalms 80:1Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for Asaph himself.<To the chief music-maker; put to Shoshannim-eduth. Of Asaph. A Psalm.> Give ear, O Keeper of Israel, guiding Joseph like a flock; you who have your seat on the winged ones, let your glory be seen.To the Overseer. `On the Lilies.` A testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. Shepherd of Israel, give ear, Leading Joseph as a flock, Inhabiting the cherubs shine forth,
Psalms 80:2Rejoice to God our helper: sing aloud to the God of Jacob. Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, let your strength be awake from sleep, and come as our salvation. Before Ephraim, and Benjamin, and Manasseh, Wake up Thy might, and come for our salvation.
Psalms 80:3Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel: the pleasant psaltery with the harp.Take us back again, O God; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.O God, cause us to turn back, And cause Thy face to shine, and we are saved.
Psalms 80:4Blow up the trumpet on the new moon, on the noted day of your solemnity.O Lord God of armies, how long will your wrath be burning against the rest of your people?Jehovah, God of Hosts, till when? Thou hast burned against the prayer of Thy people.
Psalms 80:5For it is a commandment in Israel, and a judgment to the God of Jacob. You have given them the bread of weeping for food; for their drink you have given them sorrow in great measure.Thou hast caused them to eat bread of tears, And causest them to drink With tears a third time.
Psalms 80:6He ordained it for a testimony in Joseph, when he came out of the land of Egypt: he heard a tongue which he knew not.You make us a cause of war among our neighbours; our haters are laughing at us among themselves.Thou makest us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies mock at it.
Psalms 80:7He removed his back from the burdens: his hands had served in baskets.Take us back again, O God of armies; let us see the shining of your face, and let us be safe.God of Hosts, turn us back, And cause Thy face to shine, and we are saved.
Psalms 80:8Thou calledst upon me in affliction, and I delivered thee: I heard thee in the secret place of tempest: I proved thee at the waters of contradiction. You took a vine out of Egypt: driving out the nations, and planting it in their land.A vine out of Egypt Thou dost bring, Thou dost cast out nations, and plantest it.
Psalms 80:9Hear, O my people, and I will testify to thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken to me,You made ready a place for it, so that it might take deep root, and it sent out its branches over all the land.Thou hast looked before it, and dost root it, And it filleth the land,
Psalms 80:10there shall be no new god in thee: neither shalt thou adore a strange god.The mountains were covered with its shade, and the great trees with its branches.Covered have been hills [with] its shadow, And its boughs [are] cedars of God.
Psalms 80:11For I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.It sent out its arms to the Sea, and its branches to the River. It sendeth forth its branches unto the sea, And unto the river its sucklings.
Psalms 80:12But my people heard not my voice: and Israel hearkened not to me.Why are its walls broken down by your hands, so that all who go by may take its fruit? Why hast Thou broken down its hedges, And all passing by the way have plucked it?
Psalms 80:13So I let them go according to the desires of their heart: they shall walk in their own inventions. It is uprooted by the pigs from the woods, the beasts of the field get their food from it.A boar out of the forest doth waste it, And a wild beast of the fields consumeth it.
Psalms 80:14If my people had heard me: if Israel had walked in my ways:Come back, O God of armies: from heaven let your eyes be turned to this vine, and give your mind to it,God of Hosts, turn back, we beseech Thee, Look from heaven, and see, and inspect this vine,
Psalms 80:15I should soon have humbled their enemies, and laid my hand on them that troubled them.Even to the tree which was planted by your right hand, and to the branch which you made strong for yourself. And the root that Thy right hand planted, And the branch Thou madest strong for Thee,
Psalms 80:16The enemies of the Lord have lied to him: and their time shall be for ever.It is burned with fire; it is cut down: they are made waste by the wrath of your face.Burnt with fire cut down, From the rebuke of Thy face they perish.
Psalms 80:17And he fed them with the fat of wheat, and filled them with honey out of the rock.Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.Let Thy hand be on the man of Thy right hand, On the son of man Thou hast strengthened for Thyself.
