Psalms 87:1His foundation is in the holy mountains.His foundation is in the holy mountains. <Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. A Song.> This house is resting on the holy mountain.A canticle of a psalm for the sons of Core: unto the end, for Maheleth, to answer understanding of Eman the Ezrahite.
Psalms 87:2The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.Jehovah loveth the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. The Lord has more love for the doors of Zion than for all the tents of Jacob.O Lord, the God of my salvation: I have cried in the day, and in the night before thee.
Psalms 87:3Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah Noble things are said of you, O town of God. (Selah.)Let my prayer come in before thee: incline thy ear to my petition.
Psalms 87:4I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon as among them that know me: Behold, Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: This one was born there. Rahab and Babylon will be named among those who have knowledge of me; see, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man had his birth there.For my soul is filled with evils: and my life hath drawn nigh to hell.
Psalms 87:5And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.Yea, of Zion it shall be said, This one and that one was born in her; And the Most High himself will establish her. And of Zion it will be said, This or that man had his birth there; and the Most High will make her strong.I am counted among them that go down to the pit: I am become as a man without help,
Psalms 87:6The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.Jehovah will count, when he writeth up the peoples, This one was born there. Selah The Lord will keep in mind, when he is writing the records of the people, that this man had his birth there. (Selah.)free among the dead. Like the slain sleeping in the sepulchres, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cast off from thy hand.
Psalms 87:7As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.They that sing as well as they that dance [shall say], All my fountains are in thee. Psalm 88 A Song, a Psalm of the sons of Korah; for the Chief Musician; set to Mahalath Leannoth. Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. The players on instruments will be there, and the dancers will say, All my springs are in you.They have laid me in the lower pit: in the dark places, and in the shadow of death.
