Job 16:1Then Job answered and said,Then Job answered and said, And Job made answer and said,And Job answereth and saith:
Job 16:2I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.I have heard many such things: Miserable comforters are ye all. Such things have frequently come to my ears: you are comforters who only give trouble.I have heard many such things, Miserable comforters [are] ye all.
Job 16:3Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?Shall vain words have an end? Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest? May words which are like the wind be stopped? or what is troubling you to make answer to them?Is there an end to words of wind? Or what doth embolden thee that thou answerest?
Job 16:4I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.I also could speak as ye do; If your soul were in my soul's stead, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you. It would not be hard for me to say such things if your souls were in my soul's place; joining words together against you, and shaking my head at you:I also, like you, might speak, If your soul were in my soul`s stead. I might join against you with words, And nod at you with my head.
Job 16:5But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.[But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips would assuage [your grief]. I might give you strength with my mouth, and not keep back the comfort of my lips.I might harden you with my mouth, And the moving of my lips might be sparing.
Job 16:6Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged; And though I forbear, what am I eased? If I say what is in my mind, my pain becomes no less: and if I keep quiet, how much of it goes from me?If I speak, my pain is not restrained, And I cease what goeth from me?
Job 16:7But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company. But now he has overcome me with weariness and fear, and I am in the grip of all my trouble.Only, now, it hath wearied me; Thou hast desolated all my company,
Job 16:8And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. And thou hast laid fast hold on me, [which] is a witness [against me]: And my leanness riseth up against me, It testifieth to my face. It has come up as a witness against me, and the wasting of my flesh makes answer to my face. And Thou dost loathe me, For a witness it hath been, And rise up against me doth my failure, In my face it testifieth.
Job 16:9He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me. I am broken by his wrath, and his hate has gone after me; he has made his teeth sharp against me: my haters are looking on me with cruel eyes; His anger hath torn, and he hateth me, He hath gnashed at me with his teeth, My adversary sharpeneth his eyes for me.
Job 16:10They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me. Their mouths are open wide against me; the blows of his bitter words are falling on my face; all of them come together in a mass against me.They have gaped on me with their mouth, In reproach they have smitten my cheeks, Together against me they set themselves.
Job 16:11God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. God delivereth me to the ungodly, And casteth me into the hands of the wicked. God gives me over to the power of sinners, sending me violently into the hands of evil-doers.God shutteth me up unto the perverse, And to the hands of the wicked turneth me over.
Job 16:12I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He hath also set me up for his mark. I was in comfort, but I have been broken up by his hands; he has taken me by the neck, shaking me to bits; he has put me up as a mark for his arrows. At ease I have been, and he breaketh me, And he hath laid hold on my neck, And he breaketh me in pieces, And he raiseth me to him for a mark.
Job 16:13His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. His archers compass me round about; He cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; He poureth out my gall upon the ground. His bowmen come round about me; their arrows go through my body without mercy; my life is drained out on the earth.Go round against me do his archers. He splitteth my reins, and spareth not, He poureth out to the earth my gall.
Job 16:14He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. He breaketh me with breach upon breach; He runneth upon me like a giant. I am broken with wound after wound; he comes rushing on me like a man of war.He breaketh me breach upon breach, He runneth upon me as a mighty one.
Job 16:15I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, And have laid my horn in the dust. I have made haircloth the clothing of my skin, and my horn is rolled in the dust.Sackcloth I have sewed on my skin, And have rolled in the dust my horn.
Job 16:16My face is foul with weeping, and my eyelids is the shadow of death; My face is red with weeping, And on my eyelids is the shadow of death; My face is red with weeping, and my eyes are becoming dark;My face is foul with weeping, And on mine eyelids [is] death-shade.
Job 16:17Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure. Though my hands have done no violent acts, and my prayer is clean. Not for violence in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure.
Job 16:18O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.O earth, cover not thou my blood, And let my cry have no [resting] -place. O earth, let not my blood be covered, and let my cry have no resting-place!O earth, do not thou cover my blood! And let there not be a place for my cry.
Job 16:19Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And he that voucheth for me is on high. Even now my witness is in heaven, and the supporter of my cause is on high. Also, now, lo, in the heavens [is] my witness, And my testifier in the high places.
Job 16:20My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.My friends scoff at me: [But] mine eye poureth out tears unto God, My friends make sport of me; to God my eyes are weeping,My interpreter [is] my friend, Unto God hath mine eye dropped:
Job 16:21O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! That he would maintain the right of a man with God, And of a son of man with his neighbor! So that he may give decision for a man in his cause with God, and between a son of man and his neighbour. And he reasoneth for a man with God, And a son of man for his friend.
Job 16:22When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return. For when a few years are come, I shall go the way whence I shall not return. For in a short time I will take the journey from which I will not come back. When a few years do come, Then a path I return not do I go.
