Psalms 48:1Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, in his holy mountain. Unto the end, a psalm for the sons of Core.Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised, In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Psalms 48:2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, The city of the great King. Hear these things, all ye nations: give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, Is Mount Zion, on the north sides, The city of the great King.
Psalms 48:3God is known in her palaces for a refuge.God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge. All you that are earthborn, and you sons of men: both rich and poor together.God has shown himself in her citadels as a refuge.
Psalms 48:4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together. My mouth shall speak wisdom: and the meditation of my heart understanding.For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, They passed by together.
Psalms 48:5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.They saw it, then were they amazed; They were dismayed, they hasted away. I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my proposition on the psaltery.They saw it, then were they amazed. They were dismayed, They hurried away.
Psalms 48:6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail. Why shall I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall encompass me.Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail.
Psalms 48:7Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish. They that trust in their own strength, and glory in the multitude of their riches,With the east wind, you break the ships of Tarshish.
Psalms 48:8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah No brother can redeem, nor shall man redeem: he shall not give to God his ransom,As we have heard, so have we seen, In the city of Yahweh of Hosts, in the city of our God. Psalms 48:9We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple. Nor the price of the redemption of his soul: and shall labour for ever,We have thought about your lovingkindness, God, In the midst of your temple.
Psalms 48:10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.As is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness. and shall still live unto the end.As is your name, God, So is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.
Psalms 48:11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.Let mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of thy judgments. He shall not see destruction, when he shall see the wise dying: the senseless and the fool shall perish together: And they shall leave their riches to strangers:Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice, Because of your judgments.
Psalms 48:12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.Walk about Zion, and go round about her; Number the towers thereof; and their sepulchres shall be their houses for ever. Their dwelling places to all generations: they have called their lands by their names.Walk about Zion, and go around her. Number the towers of it;

And man when he was in honour did not understand; he is compared to senseless beasts, and is become like to them.Mark well her bulwarks.
