| Job 16:1 | Then Job answered and said, | Then Job answered and said, | Then Job answered, and said: | And Job answereth and saith: |
| Job 16:2 | I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. | I have heard many such things: Miserable comforters are ye all. | I have often heard such things as these: you are all troublesome comforters. | I have heard many such things, Miserable comforters [are] ye all. |
| Job 16:3 | Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? | Shall vain words have an end? Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest? | Shall windy words have no end? or is it any trouble to thee to speak? | Is there an end to words of wind? Or what doth embolden thee that thou answerest? |
| Job 16:4 | I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. | I also could speak as ye do; If your soul were in my soul's stead, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you. | I also could speak like you: and would God your soul were for my soul. | I also, like you, might speak, If your soul were in my soul`s stead. I might join against you with words, And nod at you with my head. |
| Job 16:5 | But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. | [But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips would assuage [your grief]. | I would comfort you also with words, and would wag my head over you. | I might harden you with my mouth, And the moving of my lips might be sparing. |
| Job 16:6 | Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? | Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged; And though I forbear, what am I eased? | I would strengthen you with my mouth, and would move my lips, as sparing you. | If I speak, my pain is not restrained, And I cease what goeth from me? |
| Job 16:7 | But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. | But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company. | But what shall I do? If I speak, my pain will not rest: and if I hold my peace, it will not depart from me. | Only, now, it hath wearied me; Thou hast desolated all my company, |
| Job 16:8 | And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. | And thou hast laid fast hold on me, [which] is a witness [against me]: And my leanness riseth up against me, It testifieth to my face. | But now my sorrow hath oppressed me, and all my limbs are brought to nothing. | And Thou dost loathe me, For a witness it hath been, And rise up against me doth my failure, In my face it testifieth. |
| Job 16:9 | He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. | He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me. | My wrinkles bear witness against me, and a false speaker riseth up against my face, contradicting me. | His anger hath torn, and he hateth me, He hath gnashed at me with his teeth, My adversary sharpeneth his eyes for me. |
| Job 16:10 | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me. | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me. | He hath gathered together his fury against me, and threatening me he hath gnashed with his teeth upon me: my enemy hath beheld me with terrible eyes. | They have gaped on me with their mouth, In reproach they have smitten my cheeks, Together against me they set themselves. |
| Job 16:11 | God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. | God delivereth me to the ungodly, And casteth me into the hands of the wicked. | They have opened their mouths upon me, and reproaching me they have struck me on the cheek, they are filled with my pains. | God shutteth me up unto the perverse, And to the hands of the wicked turneth me over. |
| Job 16:12 | I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. | I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He hath also set me up for his mark. | God hath shut me up with the unjust man, and hath delivered me into the hands of the wicked. | At ease I have been, and he breaketh me, And he hath laid hold on my neck, And he breaketh me in pieces, And he raiseth me to him for a mark. |
| Job 16:13 | His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. | His archers compass me round about; He cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; He poureth out my gall upon the ground. | I that was formerly so wealthy, am all on a sudden broken to pieces: he hath taken me by my neck, he hath broken me, and hath set me up to be his mark. | Go round against me do his archers. He splitteth my reins, and spareth not, He poureth out to the earth my gall. |
| Job 16:14 | He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. | He breaketh me with breach upon breach; He runneth upon me like a giant. | He hath compassed me round about with his lances, he hath wounded my loins, he hath not spared, and hath poured out my bowels on the earth. | He breaketh me breach upon breach, He runneth upon me as a mighty one. |
| Job 16:15 | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, And have laid my horn in the dust. | He hath torn me with wound upon wound, he hath rushed in upon me like a giant. | Sackcloth I have sewed on my skin, And have rolled in the dust my horn. |
| Job 16:16 | My face is foul with weeping, and my eyelids is the shadow of death; | My face is red with weeping, And on my eyelids is the shadow of death; | I have sowed sackcloth upon my skin, and have covered my flesh with ashes. | My face is foul with weeping, And on mine eyelids [is] death-shade. |
| Job 16:17 | Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure. | Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure. | My face is swollen with weeping, and my eyelids are dim. | Not for violence in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure. |
| Job 16:18 | O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. | O earth, cover not thou my blood, And let my cry have no [resting] -place. | These things have I suffered without the iniquity of my hand, when I offered pure prayers to God. | O earth, do not thou cover my blood! And let there not be a place for my cry. |
| Job 16:19 | Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. | Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And he that voucheth for me is on high. | O earth, cover not thou my blood, neither let my cry find a hiding place in thee. | Also, now, lo, in the heavens [is] my witness, And my testifier in the high places. |
| Job 16:20 | My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God. | My friends scoff at me: [But] mine eye poureth out tears unto God, | For behold my witness is in heaven, and he that knoweth my conscience is on high. | My interpreter [is] my friend, Unto God hath mine eye dropped: |
| Job 16:21 | O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour! | That he would maintain the right of a man with God, And of a son of man with his neighbor! | My friends are full of words: my eye poureth out tears to God. | And he reasoneth for a man with God, And a son of man for his friend. |
| Job 16:22 | When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return. | For when a few years are come, I shall go the way whence I shall not return. | And O that a man might so be judged with God, as the son of man is judged with his companion! | When a few years do come, Then a path I return not do I go. |
