Job 20:1Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
Job 20:2Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste. Therefore do my thoughts give answer to me, Even by reason of my haste that is in me.
Job 20:3I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.I have heard the reproof which putteth me to shame; And the spirit of my understanding answereth me.
Job 20:4Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, Knowest thou [not] this of old time, Since man was placed upon earth,
Job 20:5That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment? That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless but for a moment?
Job 20:6Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;Though his height mount up to the heavens, And his head reach unto the clouds;
Job 20:7Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: They that have seen him shall say, Where is he?
Job 20:8He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
Job 20:9The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.The eye which saw him shall see him no more; Neither shall his place any more behold him.
Job 20:10His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.His children shall seek the favor of the poor, And his hands shall give back his wealth.
Job 20:11His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.His bones are full of his youth, But it shall lie down with him in the dust.
Job 20:12Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, Though he hide it under his tongue,
Job 20:13Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:Though he spare it, and will not let it go, But keep it still within his mouth;
Job 20:14Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.Yet his food in his bowels is turned, It is the gall of asps within him.
Job 20:15He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his belly.
Job 20:16He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.He shall suck the poison of asps: The viper's tongue shall slay him.
Job 20:17He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.He shall not look upon the rivers, The flowing streams of honey and butter.
Job 20:18That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down; According to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.
Job 20:19Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; He hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.
Job 20:20Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.Because he knew no quietness within him, He shall not save aught of that wherein he delighteth.
Job 20:21There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.There was nothing left that he devoured not; Therefore his prosperity shall not endure.
Job 20:22In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: The hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.
Job 20:23When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.When he is about to fill his belly, [God] will cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, And will rain it upon him while he is eating.
Job 20:24He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.He shall flee from the iron weapon, And the bow of brass shall strike him through.
Job 20:25It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him. He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; Yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall: Terrors are upon him.
Job 20:26All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.All darkness is laid up for his treasures: A fire not blown [by man] shall devour him; It shall consume that which is left in his tent.
Job 20:27The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him. The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, And the earth shall rise up against him.
Job 20:28The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath. The increase of his house shall depart; [His goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
Job 20:29This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.This is the portion of a wicked man from God, And the heritage appointed unto him by God.
