Psalms 17:1Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.<A Prayer. Of David.> Let my cause come to your ears, O Lord, give attention to my cry; give ear to my prayer which goes not out from false lips.Unto the end, for David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this canticle, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. [2 Kings 22.]Hear, Yahweh, my righteous plea; Give ear to my prayer, that doesn't go out of deceitful lips.
Psalms 17:2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.Be my judge; for your eyes see what is right.I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:Let my sentence come forth from your presence; Let your eyes look on equity.
Psalms 17:3Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou has tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.You have put my heart to the test, searching me in the night; you have put me to the test and seen no evil purpose in me; I will keep my mouth from sin.The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.You have proved my heart; you have visited me in the night; You have tried me, and found nothing; I have resolved that my mouth shall not disobey.
Psalms 17:4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
Psalms 17:5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.I have kept my feet in your ways, my steps have not been turned away.The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.My steps have held fast to your paths, My feet have not slipped.
Psalms 17:6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. My cry has gone up to you, for you will give me an answer, O God: let your ear be turned to me, and give attention to my words.The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me.I have called on you, for you will answer me, God: Turn your ear to me. Hear my speech.
Psalms 17:7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. Make clear the wonder of your mercy, O saviour of those who put their faith in your right hand, from those who come out against them.In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.Show your marvelous lovingkindness, You who save those who take refuge by your right hand from their enemies.
Psalms 17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,Keep me as the light of your eyes, covering me with the shade of your wings,The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.Keep me as the apple of your eye; Hide me under the shadow of your wings,
Psalms 17:9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.From the evil-doers who are violent to me, and from those who are round me, desiring my death.There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.From the wicked who oppress me, My deadly enemies, who compass me about.
Psalms 17:10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.They are shut up in their fat: with their mouths they say words of pride.He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.They close up their callous hearts. With their mouth they speak proudly.
Psalms 17:11They have now compassed us in our ste they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;They have made a circle round our steps: their eyes are fixed on us, forcing us down to the earth;And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew; he flew upon the wings of the winds.They have now surrounded us in our steps. They set their eyes to cast us down to the earth.
Psalms 17:12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.Like a lion desiring its food, and like a young lion waiting in secret places.And he made darkness his covert, his pavilion round about him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, As it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
Psalms 17:13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:Up! Lord, come out against him, make him low, with your sword be my saviour from the evil-doer.At the brightness that was before him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.Arise, Yahweh, Confront him, cast him down. Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword;
Psalms 17:14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.With your hand, O Lord, from men, even men of the world, whose heritage is in this life, and whom you make full with your secret wealth: they are full of children; after their death their offspring take the rest of their goods.And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the highest gave his voice: hail and coals of fire.From men by your hand, Yahweh, From men of the world, whose portion is in this life, Whose belly you fill with your treasure: They are satisfied with children, Leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
Psalms 17:15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.As for me, I will see your face in righteousness: when I am awake it will be joy enough for me to see your form.And he sent forth his arrows, and he scattered them: he multiplied lightnings, and troubled them.As for me, I shall see your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with seeing your form. Psalm 18 For the Chief Musician. By David, the servant of Yahweh, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said,
