Psalms 83:1Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.<A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.God, don't keep silent. Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.
Psalms 83:2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.For, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!
Psalms 83:3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.
Psalms 83:4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory."Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more."For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.
Psalms 83:5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you.Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.
Psalms 83:6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,
Psalms 83:7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.
Psalms 83:8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.
Psalms 83:9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:Do to them as you did to Midian, As to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon;O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.
Psalms 83:10Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.Who perished at Endor, Who became as dung for the earth.Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.
Psalms 83:11Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna;For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.
Psalms 83:12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.Who said, "Let us take possession Of God's pasturelands."For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.
Psalms 83:13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.My God, make them like tumbleweed; Like chaff before the wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Psalms 83:14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,As the fire that burns the forest, As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,
Psalms 83:15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.So pursue them with your tempest, Terrify them with your storm.
Psalms 83:16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek your name, Yahweh.
Psalms 83:17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish;
Psalms 83:18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.That they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth.
