2nd-Timothy 2:1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.So then, my child, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus.You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.You then, my child, must be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2nd-Timothy 2:2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.And the things which I have said to you before a number of witnesses, give to those of the faith, so that they may be teachers of others.The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.All that you have been taught by me in the hearing of many witnesses, you must hand on to trusty men who shall themselves, in turn, be competent to instruct others also.
2nd-Timothy 2:3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.Be ready to do without the comforts of life, as one of the army of Christ Jesus.You therefore must endure hardship, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.As a good soldier of Christ Jesus accept your share of suffering.
2nd-Timothy 2:4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.A fighting man, when he is with the army, keeps himself free from the business of this life so that he may be pleasing to him who has taken him into his army.No soldier on service entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.Every one who serves as a soldier keeps himself from becoming entangled in the world's business so that he may satisfy the officer who enlisted him.
2nd-Timothy 2:5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.And if a man takes part in a competition he does not get the crown if he has not kept the rules.If also a man competes in the games, he is not crowned, unless he has competed by the rules.And if any one takes part in an athletic contest, he gets no prize unless he obeys the rules.
2nd-Timothy 2:6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.It is right for the worker in the fields to be the first to take of the fruit.The farmers who labor must be the first to get a share of the crops.The harvestman who labours in the field must be the first to get a share of the crop.
2nd-Timothy 2:7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.Give thought to what I say; for the Lord will give you wisdom in all things.Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.Mark well what I am saying: the Lord will give you discernment in everything.
2nd-Timothy 2:8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:Keep in mind Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, who came back from the dead, as my good news gives witness:Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my gospel,Never forget that Jesus Christ has risen from among the dead and is a descendant of David, as is declared in the Good News which I preach.
2nd-Timothy 2:9Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.In which I put up with the hardest conditions, even prison chains, like one who has done a crime; but the word of God is not in chains.in which I suffer hardship to bonds, as a criminal. But God's word isn't bound.For preaching the Good News I suffer, and am even put in chains, as if I were a criminal: yet the word of God is not imprisoned.
2nd-Timothy 2:10Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.But I undergo all things for the saints, so that they may have salvation in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.For this reason I endure all things for the sake of God's own people; so that they also may obtain salvation even the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.
2nd-Timothy 2:11It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:This is a true saying: If we undergo death with him, then will we be living with him:This saying is faithful: For if we died with him, we will also live with him.Faithful is the saying: "If we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;
2nd-Timothy 2:12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:If we go on to the end, then we will be ruling with him: if we say we have no knowledge of him, then he will say he has no knowledge of us:If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we will deny him, he also will deny us."If we patiently endure pain, we shall also share His Kingship; "If we disown Him, He will also disown us;
2nd-Timothy 2:13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.If we are without faith, still he keeps faith, for he will never be untrue to himself.If we are faithless, he remains faithful he can't deny himself."And even if *our* faith fails, He remains true He cannot prove false to Himself."
2nd-Timothy 2:14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.Put these things before them, giving them orders in the name of the Lord to keep themselves from fighting about words, which is of no profit, only causing error in their hearers.Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord, that they don't argue about words, to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.Bring all this to men's remembrances, solemnly charging them in the presence of God not to waste time in wrangling about mere words, a course which is altogether unprofitable and tends only to the ruin of the hearers.
2nd-Timothy 2:15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.Let it be your care to get the approval of God, as a workman who has no cause for shame, giving the true word in the right way.Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn't need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.Earnestly seek to commend yourself to God as a servant who, because of his straightforward dealing with the word of truth, has no reason to feel any shame.
2nd-Timothy 2:16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.But take no part in wrong and foolish talk, for those who do so will go farther into evil,But shun empty chatter, for they will proceed further in ungodliness,But from irreligious and frivolous talk hold aloof, for those who indulge in it will proceed from bad to worse in impiety,
2nd-Timothy 2:17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;And their words will be like poisoned wounds in the flesh: such are Hymenaeus and Philetus;and their word will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;and their teaching will spread like a running sore. Hymenaeus and Philetus are men of that stamp.
2nd-Timothy 2:18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.Men whose ideas are all false, who say that the coming back from the dead has even now taken place, overturning the faith of some.men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.In the matter of the truth they have gone astray, saying that the Resurrection is already past, and so they are overthrowing the faith of some.
2nd-Timothy 2:19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.But God's strong base is unchanging, having this sign, The Lord has knowledge of those who are his: and, Let everyone by whom the name of the Lord is named be turned away from evil.However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness."Yet God's solid foundation stands unmoved, bearing this inscription, "The Lord knows those who really belong to Him." And this also, "Let every one who names the Name of the Lord renounce all wickedness."
2nd-Timothy 2:20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but others of wood and earth, and some which are honoured and some without honour.Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor, and some for dishonor.Now in a great house there are not only articles of gold and silver, but also others of wood and of earthenware; and some are for specially honourable, and others for common use.
2nd-Timothy 2:21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.If a man makes himself clean from these, he will be a vessel for honour, made holy, ready for the master's use, ready for every good work.If a man therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work.If therefore a man keeps himself clear of these latter, he himself will be for specially honourable use, consecrated, fit for the Master's service, and fully equipped for every good work.
2nd-Timothy 2:22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.But keep yourself from those desires of the flesh which are strong when the body is young, and go after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those whose prayers go up to the Lord from a clean heart.Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.Keep a strong curb, however, on your youthful cravings; and strive for integrity, good faith, love, peace, in company with all who pray to the Lord with pure hearts.
2nd-Timothy 2:23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.And put away foolish and uncontrolled questionings, seeing that they are a cause of trouble.But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.But avoid foolish discussions with ignorant men, knowing as you do that these lead to quarrels;
2nd-Timothy 2:24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,For it is not right for the Lord's servant to make trouble, but he is to be gentle to all, ready in teaching, putting up with wrong,The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient,and a bondservant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be inoffensive towards all men, a skilful teacher, and patient under wrongs.
2nd-Timothy 2:25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;Gently guiding those who go against the teaching; if by chance God may give them a change of heart and true knowledge,in gentleness correcting those who oppose him; if perhaps God may give them repentance to the knowledge of the truth,He must speak in a gentle tone when correcting the errors of opponents, in the hope that God will at last give them repentance, for them to come to a full knowledge of the truth
2nd-Timothy 2:26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.And so they may get themselves free from the net of the Evil One, being made the prisoners of the Lord's servant, for the purpose of God.and they may recover themselves out of the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to his will.and recover sober-mindedness and freedom from the Devil's snare, though they are now entrapped by him to do his will.
