Psalms 17:1Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.<A Prayer. Of David.> Let my cause come to your ears, O Lord, give attention to my cry; give ear to my prayer which goes not out from false lips.A Prayer of David. Hear, O Jehovah, righteousness, attend my cry, Give ear [to] my prayer, without lips of deceit.Unto the end, for David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this canticle, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. [2 Kings 22.]
Psalms 17:2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.Be my judge; for your eyes see what is right. From before thee my judgment doth go out; Thine eyes do see uprightly.I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:
Psalms 17:3Thou has proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou has tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. You have put my heart to the test, searching me in the night; you have put me to the test and seen no evil purpose in me; I will keep my mouth from sin.Thou hast proved my heart, Thou hast inspected by night, Thou hast tried me, Thou findest nothing; My thoughts pass not over my mouth. The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
Psalms 17:4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. As for the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. As to doings of man, Through a word of Thy lips I have observed The paths of a destroyer;Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.
Psalms 17:5Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.I have kept my feet in your ways, my steps have not been turned away.To uphold my goings in Thy paths, My steps have not slidden. The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.
Psalms 17:6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. My cry has gone up to you, for you will give me an answer, O God: let your ear be turned to me, and give attention to my words.I I called Thee, for Thou dost answer me, O God, incline Thine ear to me, hear my speech. The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me.
Psalms 17:7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. Make clear the wonder of your mercy, O saviour of those who put their faith in your right hand, from those who come out against them.Separate wonderfully Thy kindness, O Saviour of the confiding, By Thy right hand, from withstanders. In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.
Psalms 17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,Keep me as the light of your eyes, covering me with the shade of your wings,Keep me as the apple, the daughter of the eye; In shadow of Thy wings thou dost hide me.The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.
Psalms 17:9From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. From the evil-doers who are violent to me, and from those who are round me, desiring my death. From the face of the wicked who spoiled me. Mine enemies in soul go round against me.There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.
Psalms 17:10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly. They are shut up in their fat: with their mouths they say words of pride.Their fat they have closed up, Their mouths have spoken with pride:He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
Psalms 17:11They have now compassed us in our ste they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth; They have made a circle round our steps: their eyes are fixed on us, forcing us down to the earth;`Our steps now have compassed [him];` Their eyes they set to turn aside in the land. And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew; he flew upon the wings of the winds.
Psalms 17:12Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.Like a lion desiring its food, and like a young lion waiting in secret places. His likeness as a lion desirous to tear, As a young lion dwelling in secret places. And he made darkness his covert, his pavilion round about him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.
Psalms 17:13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:Up! Lord, come out against him, make him low, with your sword be my saviour from the evil-doer.Arise, O Jehovah, go before his face, Cause him to bend. Deliver my soul from the wicked, Thy sword,At the brightness that was before him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.
Psalms 17:14From men which are thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. With your hand, O Lord, from men, even men of the world, whose heritage is in this life, and whom you make full with your secret wealth: they are full of children; after their death their offspring take the rest of their goods. From men, Thy hand, O Jehovah, From men of the world, their portion [is] in life, And [with] Thy hidden things Thou fillest their belly, They are satisfied [with] sons; And have left their abundance to their sucklings. And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the highest gave his voice: hail and coals of fire.
Psalms 17:15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. As for me, I will see your face in righteousness: when I am awake it will be joy enough for me to see your form.I in righteousness, I see Thy face; I am satisfied, in awaking, [with] Thy form! And he sent forth his arrows, and he scattered them: he multiplied lightnings, and troubled them.
