1st-Corinthians 13:1Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.If I make use of the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am like sounding brass, or a loud-tongued bell.
1st-Corinthians 13:2And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.And if I have a prophet's power, and have knowledge of all secret things; and if I have all faith, by which mountains may be moved from their place, but have not love, I am nothing.
1st-Corinthians 13:3And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.And if I give all my goods to the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it is of no profit to me.
1st-Corinthians 13:4Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride;
1st-Corinthians 13:5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;Love's ways are ever fair, it takes no thought for itself; it is not quickly made angry, it takes no account of evil;
1st-Corinthians 13:6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;It takes no pleasure in wrongdoing, but has joy in what is true;
1st-Corinthians 13:7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.Love has the power of undergoing all things, having faith in all things, hoping all things.
1st-Corinthians 13:8Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.Though the prophet's word may come to an end, tongues come to nothing, and knowledge have no more value, love has no end.
1st-Corinthians 13:9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.For our knowledge is only in part, and the prophet's word gives only a part of what is true:
1st-Corinthians 13:10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.But when that which is complete is come, then that which is in part will be no longer necessary.
1st-Corinthians 13:11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.When I was a child, I made use of a child's language, I had a child's feelings and a child's thoughts: now that I am a man, I have put away the things of a child.
1st-Corinthians 13:12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.For now we see things in a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now my knowledge is in part; then it will be complete, even as God's knowledge of me.
1st-Corinthians 13:13And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
