2nd-Corinthians 10:1Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:But I myself, Paul, entreat you by the meekness and gentleness of the Christ, who, as to appearance, [when present] [am] mean among you, but absent am bold towards you;Now I Paul myself beseech you, by the mildness and modesty of Christ, who in presence indeed am lowly among you, but being absent, am bold toward you.Now I, Paul, myself make request to you by the quiet and gentle behaviour of Christ, I who am poor in spirit when with you, but who say what is in my mind to you without fear when I am away from you:
2nd-Corinthians 10:2But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.but I beseech that present I may not be bold with the confidence with which I think to be daring towards some who think of us as walking according to flesh.But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present, with that confidence wherewith I am thought to be bold, against some, who reckon us as if we walked according to the flesh.Yes, I make my request to you, so that when I am with you I may not have to make use of the authority which may be needed against some to whom we seem to be walking after the flesh.
2nd-Corinthians 10:3For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:For walking in flesh, we do not war according to flesh.For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.For though we may be living in the flesh, we are not fighting after the way of the flesh
2nd-Corinthians 10:4(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)For the arms of our warfare [are] not fleshly, but powerful according to God to [the] overthrow of strongholds;For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to God unto the pulling down of fortifications, destroying counsels,(For the arms with which we are fighting are not those of the flesh, but are strong before God for the destruction of high places);
2nd-Corinthians 10:5Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;overthrowing reasonings and every high thing that lifts itself up against the knowledge of God, and leading captive every thought into the obedience of the Christ;And every height that exhalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every understanding unto the obedience of Christ;Putting an end to reasonings, and every high thing which is lifted up against the knowledge of God, and causing every thought to come under the authority of Christ;
2nd-Corinthians 10:6And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.and having in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience shall have been fulfilled.And having in readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be fulfilled.Being ready to give punishment to whatever is against his authority, after you have made it clear that you are completely under his control.
2nd-Corinthians 10:7Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.Do ye look at what concerns appearance? If any one has confidence in himself that he is of Christ, let him think this again in himself, that even as he [is] of Christ, so also [are] we.See the things that are according to outward appearance. If any man trust to himself, that he is Christ's, let him think this again with himself, that as he is Christ's, so are we also.Give attention to the things which are before you. If any man seems to himself to be Christ's, let him keep in mind that we are as much Christ's as he is.
2nd-Corinthians 10:8For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:For and if I should boast even somewhat more abundantly of our authority, which the Lord has given [to us] for building up and not for your overthrowing, I shall not be put to shame;For if also I should boast somewhat more of our power, which the Lord hath given us unto edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed.For though I might take pride in our authority (which the Lord gave for building you up, and not for your destruction), it will not be a cause of shame to me:
2nd-Corinthians 10:9That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.that I may not seem as if I was frightening you by letters:But that I may not be thought as it were to terrify you by epistles,That I may not seem to have the desire of causing you fear by my letters.
2nd-Corinthians 10:10For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.because his letters, he says, [are] weighty and strong, but his presence in the body weak, and his speech naught.(For his epistles indeed, say they, are weighty and strong; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible,)For his letters, they say, have weight and are strong; but in body he is feeble, and his way of talking has little force.
2nd-Corinthians 10:11Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.Let such a one think this, that such as we are in word by letters [when] absent, such also present in deed.Let such a one think this, that such as we are in word by epistles, when absent, such also we will be indeed when present.Let those who say this keep in mind that, what we are in word by letters when we are away, so will we be in act when we are present.
2nd-Corinthians 10:12For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves; but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are not intelligent.For we dare not match, or compare ourselves with some, that commend themselves; but we measure ourselves by ourselves, and compare ourselves with ourselves.For we will not make comparison of ourselves with some of those who say good things about themselves: but these, measuring themselves by themselves, and making comparison of themselves with themselves, are not wise.
2nd-Corinthians 10:13But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.Now *we* will not boast out of measure, but according to the measure of the rule which the God of measure has apportioned to us, to reach to you also.But we will not glory beyond our measure; but according to the measure of the rule, which God hath measured to us, a measure to reach even unto you.We will not give glory to ourselves in over-great measure, but after the measure of the rule which God has given us, a measure which comes even to you.
2nd-Corinthians 10:14For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:For we do not, as not reaching to you, overstretch ourselves, (for we have come to you also in the glad tidings of the Christ;)For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as if we reached not unto you. For we are come as far as to you in the gospel of Christ.For we have no need to make ourselves seem more than we are, as if our authority did not come as far as to you: for we came even as far as you with the good news of Christ:
2nd-Corinthians 10:15Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,not boasting out of measure in other people's labours, but having hope, your faith increasing, to be enlarged amongst you, according to our rule, yet more abundantlyNot glorying beyond measure in other men's labours; but having hope of your increasing faith, to be magnified in you according to our rule abundantly;Not taking credit to ourselves for what is not our business, that is, for the work of others; but having hope that, with the growth of your faith, we may get the credit for an increase which is the effect of our work,
2nd-Corinthians 10:16To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.to announce the glad tidings to that [which is] beyond you, not to be boasting in another's rule of things made ready to hand.Yea, unto those places that are beyond you, to preach the gospel, not to glory in another man's rule, in those things that are made ready to our hand.So that we may be able to go on and take the good news to countries still farther away than you are, and not take credit for another man's work in making things ready to our hand.
2nd-Corinthians 10:17But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.But he that boasts, let him boast in the Lord.But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.But whoever has a desire for glory, let his glory be in the Lord.
2nd-Corinthians 10:18For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.For not *he* that commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.For not he who commendeth himself, is approved, but he, whom God commendeth.For the Lord's approval of a man is not dependent on his opinion of himself, but on the Lord's opinion of him.
