| Job 36:1 | Elihu also proceeded, and said, | And Elihu proceeded and said, | Eliu also proceeded, and said : | And Elihu went on to say, |
| Job 36:2 | Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God's behalf. | Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet words for +God. | Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee : for I have yet somewhat to speak in God's behalf. | Give me a little more time, and I will make it clear to you; for I have still something to say for God. |
| Job 36:3 | I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. | I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Creator. | I will repeat my knowledge from the beginning, and I will prove my Maker just. | I will get my knowledge from far, and I will give righteousness to my Maker. |
| Job 36:4 | For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. | For truly my words shall be no falsehood: one perfect in knowledge is with thee. | For indeed my words are without a lie, and perfect knowledge shall be proved to thee. | For truly my words are not false; one who has all knowledge is talking with you. |
| Job 36:5 | Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. | Lo, ùGod is mighty, but despiseth not [any]; mighty in strength of understanding: | God doth not cast away the mighty, whereas he himself also is mighty. | Truly, God gives up the hard-hearted, and will not give life to the sinner. |
| Job 36:6 | He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor. | He saveth not the wicked alive; but he doeth justice to the afflicted. | But he saveth not the wicked, and he giveth judgment to the poor. | His eyes are ever on the upright, and he gives to the crushed their right; |
| Job 36:7 | He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted. | He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne doth he even set them for ever; and they are exalted. | He will not take away his eyes from the just, and he placeth kings on the throne for ever, and they are exalted. | Lifting them up to the seat of kings, and making them safe for ever. |
| Job 36:8 | And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; | And if, bound in fetters, they be held in cords of affliction, | And if they shall be in chains, and be bound with the cords of poverty : | And if they have been prisoned in chains, and taken in cords of trouble, |
| Job 36:9 | Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded. | Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions, because they have increased. | He shall shew them their works, and their wicked deeds, because they have been violent. | Then he makes clear to them what they have done, even their evil works in which they have taken pride. |
| Job 36:10 | He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. | And he openeth their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. | He also shall open their ear, to correct them : and shall speak, that they may return from iniquity. | Their ear is open to his teaching, and he gives them orders so that their hearts may be turned from evil. |
| Job 36:11 | If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. | If they hearken and serve [him], they shall accomplish their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. | If they shall hear and observe, they shall accomplish their days in good, and their years in glory. | If they give ear to his voice, and do his word, then he gives them long life, and years full of pleasure. |
| Job 36:12 | But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. | But if they hearken not, they shall pass away by the sword, and expire without knowledge. | But if they hear not, they shall pass by the sword, and shall be consumed in folly. | But if not, they come to their end, and give up their breath without knowledge. |
| Job 36:13 | But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them. | But the godless in heart heap up anger; they cry not when he bindeth them: | Dissemblers and crafty men prove the wrath of God, neither shall they cry when they are bound. | Those who have no fear of God keep wrath stored up in their hearts; they give no cry for help when they are made prisoners. |
| Job 36:14 | They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean. | Their soul dieth in youth, and their life is among the unclean. | Their soul shall die in a storm, and their life among the effeminate. | They come to their end while they are still young, their life is short like that of those who are used for sex purposes in the worship of their gods. |
| Job 36:15 | He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression. | But he delivereth the afflicted in his affliction, and openeth their ear in [their] oppression. | He shall deliver the poor out of his distress, and shall open his ear in affliction. | He makes the wrong done to the poor the way of their salvation, opening their ears by their trouble. |
| Job 36:16 | Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness. | Even so would he have allured thee out of the jaws of distress into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and the supply of thy table [would be] full of fatness. | Therefore he shall set thee at large out of the narrow mouth, and which hath no foundation under it : and the rest of thy table shall be full of fatness. | ... |
| Job 36:17 | But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee. | But thou art full of the judgments of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold [on thee]. | Thy cause hath been judged as that of the wicked, cause and judgment thou shalt recover. | ... |
| Job 36:18 | Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee. | Because there is wrath, [beware] lest it take thee away through chastisement: then a great ransom could not avail thee. | Therefore let not anger overcome thee to oppress any man : neither let multitude of gifts turn thee aside. | ... |
| Job 36:19 | Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength. | Will he esteem thy riches? Not gold, nor all the resources of strength! | Lay down thy greatness without tribulation, and all the mighty of strength. | ... |
| Job 36:20 | Desire not the night, when people are cut off in their place. | Desire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their place. | Prolong not the night that people may come up for them. | ... |
| Job 36:21 | Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction. | Take heed, turn not to iniquity; for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction. | Beware thou turn not aside to iniquity : for this thou hast begun to follow after misery. | Take care not to be turned to sin, for you have taken evil for your part in place of sorrow. |
| Job 36:22 | Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him? | Lo, ùGod is exalted in his power: who teacheth as he? | Behold, God is high in his strength, and none is like him among the lawgivers. | Truly God is lifted up in strength; who is a ruler like him? |
| Job 36:23 | Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity? | Who hath appointed him his way? or who hath said, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness? | Who can search out his ways? or who can say to him : Thou has wrought iniquity? | Who ever gave orders to him, or said to him, You have done wrong? |
| Job 36:24 | Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold. | Remember that thou magnify his work, which men celebrate. | Remember that thou knowest not his work, concerning which men have sung. | See that you give praise to his work, about which men make songs. |
| Job 36:25 | Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off. | All men look at it; man beholdeth [it] afar off. | All men see him, every one beholdeth afar off. | All people are looking on it; man sees it from far. |
| Job 36:26 | Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. | Lo, ùGod is great, and we comprehend [him] not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. | Behold, God is great, exceeding our knowledge : the number of his years is inestimable. | Truly, God is great, greater than all our knowledge; the number of his years may not be searched out. |
| Job 36:27 | For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: | For he draweth up the drops of water: they distil in rain from the vapour which he formeth, | He lifteth up the drops of rain, and poureth out showers like floods : | For he takes up the drops from the sea; he sends them through his mist as rain, |
| Job 36:28 | Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly. | Which the skies pour down [and] drop upon man abundantly. | Which flow from the clouds that cover all above. | Flowing down from the sky, and dropping on the peoples. |
| Job 36:29 | Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? | But can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, [or] the crashing of his pavilion? | If he will spread out clouds as his tent, | And who has knowledge of how the clouds are stretched out, or of the thunders of his tent? |
| Job 36:30 | Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea. | Lo, he spreadeth his light around him, and covereth the bottom of the sea. | And lighten with his light from above, he shall cover also the ends of the sea. | See, he is stretching out his mist, covering the tops of the mountains with it. |
| Job 36:31 | For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. | For with them he judgeth the peoples; he giveth food in abundance. | For by these he judgeth people, and giveth food to many mortals. | For by these he gives food to the peoples, and bread in full measure. |
| Job 36:32 | With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. | [His] hands he covereth with lightning, and commandeth it where it is to strike. | In his hands he hideth the light, and commandeth it to come again. | He takes the light in his hands, sending it against the mark. |
| Job 36:33 | The noise thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour. | His thundering declareth concerning him; the cattle even, concerning its coming. | He sheweth his friend concerning it, that it is his possession, and that he may come up to it. | The thunder makes clear his passion, and the storm gives news of his wrath. |
