Psalms 83:1Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.{A Song; a Psalm of Asaph.} O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O ùGod:Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.<A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.
Psalms 83:2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.For behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head.How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.
Psalms 83:3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.
Psalms 83:4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.They say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more.For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory.
Psalms 83:5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:For they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:
Psalms 83:6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;
Psalms 83:7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;
Psalms 83:8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.Asshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah.For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)
Psalms 83:9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:Do unto them as to Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon:O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:
Psalms 83:10Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.Who were destroyed at Endor; they became as dung for the ground.Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.
Psalms 83:11Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb; and all their chiefs as Zebah and as Zalmunna.For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:
Psalms 83:12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.
Psalms 83:13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.
Psalms 83:14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,
Psalms 83:15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind.So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.
Psalms 83:16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.
Psalms 83:17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;
Psalms 83:18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.
