| 1st-Thessalonians 4:1 | Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. | For the rest, then, brethren, we beg you and exhort you in [the] Lord Jesus, even as ye have received from us how ye ought to walk and please God, even as ye also do walk, that ye would abound still more. | For the rest therefore, brethren, we pray and beseech you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have received from us, how you ought to walk, and to please God, so also you would walk, that you may abound the more. | Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:2 | For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. | For ye know what charges we gave you through the Lord Jesus. | For you know what precepts I have given to you by the Lord Jesus. | For you know what charge we gave you through the Lord Jesus. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:3 | For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: | For this is [the] will of God, [even] your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication; | For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you should abstain from fornication; | For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:4 | That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; | that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour, | That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour: | that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:5 | Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: | (not in passionate desire, even as the nations who know not God,) | Not in the passion of lust, like the Gentiles that know not God: | not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don't know God; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:6 | That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. | not overstepping the rights of and wronging his brother in the matter, because the Lord [is] the avenger of all these things, even as we also told you before, and have fully testified. | And that no man overreach, nor circumvent his brother in business: because the Lord is the avenger of all these things, as we have told you before, and have testified. | that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:7 | For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. | For God has not called us to uncleanness, but in sanctification. | For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto sanctification. | For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:8 | He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. | He therefore that [in this] disregards [his brother], disregards, not man, but God, who has given also his Holy Spirit to you. | Therefore, he that despiseth these things, despiseth not man, but God, who also hath given his holy Spirit in us. | Therefore he who rejects, doesn't reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:9 | But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. | Now concerning brotherly love ye have no need that we should write to you, for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. | But as touching the charity of brotherhood, we have no need to write to you: for yourselves have learned of God to love one another. | But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another, |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:10 | And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; | For also ye do this towards all the brethren in the whole of Macedonia; but we exhort you, brethren, to abound still more, | For indeed you do it towards all the brethren in all Macedonia. But we entreat you, brethren, that you abound more: | for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:11 | And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; | and to seek earnestly to be quiet and mind your own affairs, and work with your [own] hands, even as we charged you, | And that you use your endeavour to be quiet, and that you do your own business, and work with your own hands, as we commanded you: and that you walk honestly towards them that are without; and that you want nothing of any man's. | and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we charged you; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:12 | That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. | that ye may walk reputably towards those without, and may have need of no one. | And we will not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that you be not sorrowful, even as others who have no hope. | that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:13 | But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. | But we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are fallen asleep, to the end that ye be not grieved even as also the rest who have no hope. | For if we believe that Jesus died, and rose again; even so them who have slept through Jesus, will God bring with him. | But we don't want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don't grieve like the rest, who have no hope. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:14 | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. | For if we believe that Jesus has died and has risen again, so also God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. | For this we say unto you in the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who have slept. | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so those who have fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:15 | For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. | (For this we say to you in [the] word of [the] Lord, that *we*, the living, who remain to the coming of the Lord, are in no way to anticipate those who have fallen asleep; | For the Lord himself shall come down from heaven with commandment, and with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead who are in Christ, shall rise first. | For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left to the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:16 | For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: | for the Lord himself, with an assembling shout, with archangel's voice and with trump of God, shall descend from heaven; and the dead in Christ shall rise first; | Then we who are alive, who are left, shall be taken up together with them in the clouds to meet Christ, into the air, and so shall we be always with the Lord. | For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with God's trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:17 | Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. | then *we*, the living who remain, shall be caught up together with them in [the] clouds, to meet the Lord in [the] air; and thus we shall be always with [the] Lord. | Wherefore, comfort ye one another with these words. | then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 4:18 | Wherefore comfort one another with these words. | So encourage one another with these words.) | | Therefore comfort one another with these words. |
