Psalms 40:1I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.{To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} I waited patiently for Jehovah; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.Unto the end, a psalm for David himself.I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry.
Psalms 40:2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings:Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor : the Lord will deliver him in the evil day.He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand.
Psalms 40:3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.And he hath put a new song in my mouth, praise unto our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall confide in Jehovah. The Lord preserve him and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth : and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in Yahweh.
Psalms 40:4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Blessed is the man that hath made Jehovah his confidence, and turneth not to the proud, and to such as turn aside to lies. The Lord help him on his bed of sorrow : thou hast turned all his couch in his sickness.Blessed is the man who makes Yahweh his trust, And doesn't respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Psalms 40:5Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.Thou, O Jehovah my God, hast multiplied thy marvellous works, and thy thoughts toward us: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee; would I declare and speak [them], they are more than can be numbered.I said: O Lord, be thou merciful to me : heal my soul, for I have sinned against thee. Many, Yahweh, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, And your thoughts which are toward us. They can't be set in order to you; If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
Psalms 40:6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Sacrifice and oblation thou didst not desire: ears hast thou prepared me. Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded; My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish?Sacrifice and offering you didn't desire. My ears have you opened: Burnt offering and sin offering have you not required.
Psalms 40:7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, Then said I, Behold, I come, in the volume of the book it is written of meAnd if he came in to see me, he spoke vain things : his heart gathered together iniquity to itself. He went out and spoke to the same purpose. Then I said, "Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.
Psalms 40:8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. To do thy good pleasure, my God, is my delight, and thy law is within my heart. All my enemies whispered together against me : they devised evils to me.I delight to do your will, my God. Yes, your law is within my heart."
Psalms 40:9I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.I have published righteousness in the great congregation: behold, I have not withheld my lips, Jehovah, *thou* knowest. They determined against me an unjust word : shall he that sleepeth rise again no more?I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, Yahweh, you know.
Psalms 40:10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.I have not hidden thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy loving-kindness and thy truth from the great congregation. For even the man of peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, hath greatly supplanted me.I have not hidden your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your lovingkindness and your truth from the great assembly.
Psalms 40:11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.Withhold not thou, Jehovah, thy tender mercies from me; let thy loving-kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.But thou, O Lord, have mercy on me, and raise me up again : and I will requite them.Don't withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh. Let your lovingkindness and your truth continually preserve me.
Psalms 40:12For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head: and my heart hath failed me.By this I know, that thou hast had a good will for me : because my enemy shall not rejoice over me.For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.
Psalms 40:13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me; Jehovah, make haste to my help. But thou hast upheld me by reason of my innocence : and hast established me in thy sight for ever.Be pleased, Yahweh, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, Yahweh.
Psalms 40:14Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be turned backward and confounded that take pleasure in mine adversity;Blessed by the Lord the God of Israel from eternity to eternity. So be it. So be it.Let them be put to shame and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt.
Psalms 40:15Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.Let them be desolate, because of their shame, that say unto me, Aha! Aha!Let them be desolate by reason of their shame that tell me, "Aha! Aha!"
Psalms 40:16Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.Let all those that seek thee be glad and rejoice in thee; let such as love thy salvation say continually, Jehovah be magnified!Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, "Let Yahweh be exalted!"
Psalms 40:17But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.But I am afflicted and needy: the Lord thinketh upon me. Thou art my help and my deliverer: my God, make no delay. But I am poor and needy; May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Don't delay, my God. Psalm 41 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.
