| Psalms 40:1 | I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. | {To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} I waited patiently for Jehovah; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. | Unto the end, a psalm for David himself. | I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry. |
| Psalms 40:2 | He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. | And he brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock; he hath established my goings: | Blessed is he that understandeth concerning the needy and the poor : the Lord will deliver him in the evil day. | He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. |

Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not demanded; | My enemies have spoken evils against me: when shall he die and his name perish? | Sacrifice and offering you didn't desire. My ears have you opened: Burnt offering and sin offering have you not required. |
