Psalms 88:1O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee:{A Song, a Psalm for the sons of Korah. To the chief Musician. Upon Mahalath Leannoth. An instruction. Of Heman the Ezrahite.} Jehovah, God of my salvation, I have cried by day [and] in the night before thee.
Psalms 88:2Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;Let my prayer come before thee; incline thine ear unto my cry.
Psalms 88:3For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draweth nigh to Sheol.
Psalms 88:4I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no strength:
Psalms 88:5Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.Prostrate among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave; whom thou rememberest no more, and who are cut off from thy hand.
Psalms 88:6Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in dark places, in the deeps.
Psalms 88:7Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah.Thy fury lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted [me] with all thy waves. Selah.
Psalms 88:8Thou hast put away mine acquaintance far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.Thou hast put my familiar friends far from me; thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
Psalms 88:9Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.Mine eye consumeth by reason of affliction. Upon thee, Jehovah, have I called every day; I have stretched out my hands unto thee.
Psalms 88:10Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.Wilt thou do wonders to the dead? shall the shades arise and praise thee? Selah.
Psalms 88:11Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? thy faithfulness in Destruction?
Psalms 88:12Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
Psalms 88:13But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.But as for me, Jehovah, I cry unto thee, and in the morning my prayer cometh before thee.
Psalms 88:14LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?Why, O Jehovah, castest thou off my soul? [why] hidest thou thy face from me?
Psalms 88:15I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.I am afflicted and expiring from my youth up; I suffer thy terrors, [and] I am distracted.
Psalms 88:16Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.Thy fierce anger hath gone over me; thy terrors have brought me to nought:
Psalms 88:17They came round about me daily like water; they compassed me about together.They have surrounded me all the day like water; they have compassed me about together.
Psalms 88:18Lover and friend hast thou put far from me, and mine acquaintance into darkness. Lover and associate hast thou put far from me: my familiar friends are darkness.
