| Psalms 59:1 | Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me. | Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the inscription of a title, to David himself, for doctrine, | <To the chief music-maker; put to At-tashheth. Michtam. Of David. When Saul sent, and they were watching the house, to put him to death.> Take me out of the hands of the cruel ones, O my God; keep me safe from those who come up against me. | Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: Set me on high from them that rise up against me. |
| Psalms 59:2 | Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men. | when he set fire to Mesopotamia of Syria and Sobal and Joab returned and slew of Edom, in the vale of the saltpits, twelve thousand men. | Take me out of the power of the workers of evil, and keep me safe from the men of blood. | Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, And save me from the bloodthirsty men. |
| Psalms 59:3 | For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD. | O God, thou hast cast us off, and hast destroyed us; thou hast been angry, and hast had mercy on us. | For see, they are watching in secret for my soul; the strong have come together against me? but not because of my sin, or my evil-doing, O Lord. | For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul; The mighty gather themselves together against me: Not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah. |
| Psalms 59:4 | They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold. | Thou hast moved the earth, and hast troubled it: heal thou the breaches thereof, for it has been moved. | For no sin of mine they go quickly and get themselves ready; be awake and come to my help, and see. | They run and prepare themselves without [my] fault: Awake thou to help me, and behold. |
| Psalms 59:5 | Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. | Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us drink wine of sorrow. | You, O Lord God of armies, are the God of Israel; come now and give punishment to the nations; have no mercy on any workers of deceit. (Selah.) | Even thou, O Jehovah God of hosts, the God of Israel, Arise to visit all the nations: Be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah |
| Psalms 59:6 | They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. | Thou hast given a warning to them that fear thee: that they may flee from before the bow: That thy beloved may be delivered. | They come back in the evening; they make a noise like a dog, and go round the town. | They return at evening, they howl like a dog, And go round about the city. |
| Psalms 59:7 | Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their li for who, say they, doth hear? | Save me with thy right hand, and hear me. | See, hate is dropping from their lips; curses are on their tongues: they say, Who gives attention to it? | Behold, they belch out with their mouth; Swords are in their lips: For who, [say they], doth hear? |
| Psalms 59:8 | But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision. | God hath spoken in his holy place: I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem; and will mete out the vale of tabernacles. | But you are laughing at them, O Lord; you will make sport of all the nations. | But thou, O Jehovah, wilt laugh at them; Thou wilt have all the nations in derision. |
| Psalms 59:9 | Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence. | Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine: and Ephraim is the strength of my head. Juda is my king: | O my strength, I will put my hope in you; because God is my strong tower. | [Because of] his strength I will give heed unto thee; For God is my high tower. |
| Psalms 59:10 | The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies. | Moab is the pot of my hope. Into Edom will I stretch out my shoe: to me the foreigners are made subject. | The God of my mercy will go before me: God will let me see my desire effected on my haters. | My God with his lovingkindness will meet me: God will let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies. |
| Psalms 59:11 | Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. | Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? | Put them not to death, for so my people will keep the memory of them: let them be sent in all directions by your power; make them low, O Lord our saviour. | Slay them not, lest my people forget: Scatter them by thy power, and bring them down, O Lord our shield. |
| Psalms 59:12 | For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. | Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go out with our armies? | Because of the sin of their mouths and the word of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride; and for their curses and their deceit, | [For] the sin of their mouth, [and] the words of their lips, Let them even be taken in their pride, And for cursing and lying which they speak. |
| Psalms 59:13 | Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah. | Give us help from trouble: for vain is the salvation of man. | Put an end to them in your wrath, put an end to them, so that they may not be seen again; let them see that God is ruling in Jacob and to the ends of the earth. (Selah.) | Consume them in wrath, consume them, so that they shall be no more: And let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, Unto the ends of the earth. Selah |
| Psalms 59:14 | And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. | Through God we shall do mightily: and he shall bring to nothing them that afflict us. | And in the evening let them come back, and make a noise like a dog, and go round the town. | And at evening let them return, let them howl like a dog, And go round about the city. |
| Psalms 59:15 | Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied. | | Let them go wandering up and down in search of food, and be there all night if they have not enough. | They shall wander up and down for food, And tarry all night if they be not satisfied. |
| Psalms 59:16 | But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble. | | But I will make songs of your power; yes, I will give cries of joy for your mercy in the morning; because you have been my strength and my high tower in the day of my trouble. | But I will sing of thy strength; Yea, I will sing aloud of thy lovingkindness in the morning: For thou hast been my high tower, And a refuge in the day of my distress. |
| Psalms 59:17 | Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy. | | To you, O my strength, will I make my song: because God is my high tower, even the God of my mercy. | Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing praises: For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy. Psalm 60 For the Chief Musician; [set to] Shushan Eduth. Michtam of David, to teach; and when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the Valley of Salt twelve thousand. |
