Psalms 83:1Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.God, don't keep silent. Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.A Song, A Psalm of Asaph. O God, let there be no silence to Thee, Be not silent, nor be quiet, O God.
Psalms 83:2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!For, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.For, lo, Thine enemies do roar, And those hating Thee have lifted up the head,
Psalms 83:3They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.Against Thy people they take crafty counsel, And consult against Thy hidden ones.
Psalms 83:4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God."Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more."They have said, `Come, And we cut them off from [being] a nation, And the name of Israel is not remembered any more.`
Psalms 83:5For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you.For they consulted in heart together, Against Thee a covenant they make,
Psalms 83:6The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarenes,
Psalms 83:7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with inhabitants of Tyre,
Psalms 83:8Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.Asshur also is joined with them, They have been an arm to sons of Lot. Selah.
Psalms 83:9Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.Do to them as you did to Midian, As to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon;Do to them as [to] Midian, As [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the stream Kishon.
Psalms 83:10Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.Who perished at Endor, Who became as dung for the earth.They were destroyed at Endor, They were dung for the ground!
Psalms 83:11Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna;Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb, And as Zebah and Zalmunna all their princes,
Psalms 83:12Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.Who said, "Let us take possession Of God's pasturelands."Who have said, `Let us occupy for ourselves The comely places of God.`
Psalms 83:13O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.My God, make them like tumbleweed; Like chaff before the wind.O my God, make them as a rolling thing, As stubble before wind.
Psalms 83:14As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;As the fire that burns the forest, As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,As a fire doth burn a forest, And as a flame setteth hills on fire,
Psalms 83:15So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. So pursue them with your tempest, Terrify them with your storm.So dost Thou pursue them with Thy whirlwind, And with Thy hurricane troublest them.
Psalms 83:16Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek your name, Yahweh.Fill their faces [with] shame, And they seek Thy name, O Jehovah.
Psalms 83:17Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish;They are ashamed and troubled for ever, Yea, they are confounded and lost.
Psalms 83:18That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. That they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 84 For the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by the sons of Korah.And they know that Thou (Thy name [is] Jehovah by Thyself,) [Art] the Most High over all the earth!
