1st-Timothy 5:1Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;Never administer a sharp reprimand to a man older than yourself; but entreat him as if he were your father, and the younger men as brothers;Do not say sharp words to one who has authority in the church, but let your talk be as to a father, and to the younger men as to brothers:An aged person thou mayest not rebuke, but be entreating as a father; younger persons as brethren;
1st-Timothy 5:2The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.the elder women too as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, with perfect modesty.To the older women as to mothers, to the younger as to sisters, with a clean heart.aged women as mothers, younger ones as sisters in all purity;
1st-Timothy 5:3Honour widows that are widows indeed.Honour widows who are really in need.Give honour to widows who are truly widows.honour widows who are really widows;
1st-Timothy 5:4But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let these learn first to show piety towards their own homes and to prove their gratitude to their parents; for this is well pleasing in the sight of God.But if any widow has children or children's children, let these see that it is right to take care of their family and their fathers and mothers: for this is pleasing in the eyes of God.and if any widow have children or grandchildren, let them learn first to their own house to show piety, and to give back a recompense to the parents, for this is right and acceptable before God.
1st-Timothy 5:5Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.A widow who is really in need, friendless and desolate, has her hopes fixed on God, and continues at her supplications and prayers, night and day;Now she who is truly a widow and without family puts her hope in God, giving herself to prayer day and night.And she who is really a widow and desolate, hath hoped upon God, and doth remain in the supplications and in the prayers night and day,
1st-Timothy 5:6But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.but a pleasure-loving widow is dead even while still alive.But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she is living.and she who is given to luxury, living hath died;
1st-Timothy 5:7And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.Press these facts upon them, so that they may live lives free from reproach.Give orders to this effect, so that no evil may be said of anyone.and these things charge, that they may be blameless;
1st-Timothy 5:8But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.But if a man makes no provision for those dependent on him, and especially for his own family, he has disowned the faith and is behaving worse than an unbeliever.If anyone has no care for his family and those in his house, he is false to the faith, and is worse than one who has no faith.and if any one for his own and especially for those of the household doth not provide, the faith he hath denied, and than an unbeliever he is worse.
1st-Timothy 5:9Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man,No widow is to be put on the roll who is under sixty years of age.Let no woman be numbered among the widows who is under sixty years old, and only if she has been the wife of one man,A widow let her not be enrolled under sixty years of age, having been a wife of one husband,
1st-Timothy 5:10Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.She must have been true to her one husband, and well reported of for good deeds, as having brought up children, received strangers hospitably, washed the feet of God's people, given relief to the distressed, and devoted herself to good works of every kind.And if witness is given of her good works; if she has had the care of children, if she has been kind to travellers, washing the feet of the saints, helping those who are in trouble, giving herself to good works.in good works being testified to: if she brought up children, if she entertained strangers, if saints` feet she washed, if those in tribulation she relieved, if every good work she followed after;
1st-Timothy 5:11But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;But the younger widows you must not enrol; for as soon as they begin to chafe against the yoke of Christ, they want to marry,But to the younger widows say No: for when their love is turned away from Christ, they have a desire to be married;and younger widows be refusing, for when they may revel against the Christ, they wish to marry,
1st-Timothy 5:12Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.and they incur disapproval for having broken their original vow.And they are judged because they have been false to their first faith;having judgment, because the first faith they did cast away,
1st-Timothy 5:13And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.And at the same time they also learn to be idle as they go round from house to house; and they are not only idle, but are gossips also and busybodies, speaking of things that ought not to be spoken of.And they get into the way of doing no work, going about from house to house; and not only doing no work, but talking foolishly, being over-interested in the business of others, saying things which they have no right to say.and at the same time also, they learn [to be] idle, going about the houses; and not only idle, but also tattlers and busybodies, speaking the things they ought not;
1st-Timothy 5:14I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.I would therefore have the younger women marry, bear children, rule in domestic matters, and furnish the Adversary with no excuse for slander.So it is my desire that the younger widows may be married and have children, controlling their families, and giving the Evil One no chance to say anything against them,I wish, therefore, younger ones to marry, to bear children, to be mistress of the house, to give no occasion to the opposer to reviling;
1st-Timothy 5:15For some are already turned aside after Satan.For already some of them have gone astray, following Satan.For even now some are turned away to Satan.for already certain did turn aside after the Adversary.
1st-Timothy 5:16If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.If a believing woman has widows dependent on her, she should relieve their wants, and save the Church from being burdened so that the Church may relieve the widows who are really in need.If any woman of the faith has relations who are widows, let her give them help, so that the care of them does not come on the church, and so it may give help to those who are truly widowed.If any believing man or believing woman have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the assembly be burdened, that those really widows it may relieve.
1st-Timothy 5:17Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.Let the Elders who perform their duties wisely and well be held worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in preaching and teaching.Let rulers whose rule is good be honoured twice over, specially those whose work is preaching and teaching.The well-leading elders of double honour let them be counted worthy, especially those labouring in word and teaching,
1st-Timothy 5:18For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.For the Scripture says, "You are not to muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain;" and the workman deserves his pay.For the Writings say, It is not right to keep the ox from taking the grain when he is crushing it. And, The worker has a right to his reward.for the Writing saith, `An ox treading out thou shalt not muzzle,` and `Worthy [is] the workman of his reward.`
1st-Timothy 5:19Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.Never entertain an accusation against an Elder except on the evidence of two of three witnesses.Do not take as true any statement made against one in authority, but only if two or three give witness to it.Against an elder an accusation receive not, except upon two or three witnesses.
1st-Timothy 5:20Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.Those who persist in sin reprove in the presence of all, so that it may also be a warning to the rest.Say sharp words to sinners when all are present, so that the rest may be in fear.Those sinning, reprove before all, that the others also may have fear;
1st-Timothy 5:21I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.I solemnly call upon you, in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels, to carry out these instructions of mine without prejudice, and to do nothing from partiality.I give you orders before God and Christ Jesus and the angels of God's selection, to keep these orders without giving thought to one side more than another.I testify fully, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the choice messengers, that these things thou mayest keep, without forejudging, doing nothing by partiality.
1st-Timothy 5:22Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.Do not ordain any one hastily; and do not be a partaker in the sins of others; keep *yourself* pure.Do not put hands on any man without thought, and have no part in other men's sins: keep yourself clean.Be laying hands quickly on no one, nor be having fellowship with sins of others; be keeping thyself pure;
1st-Timothy 5:23Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.(No longer be a water-drinker; but take a little wine for the sake of your digestion and your frequent ailments.)Do not take only water as your drink, but take a little wine for the good of your stomach, and because you are frequently ill.no longer be drinking water, but a little wine be using, because of thy stomach and of thine often infirmities;
1st-Timothy 5:24Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.The sins of some men are evident to the world, leading the way to your estimate of their characters, but the sins of others lag behind.The sins of some men are clearly seen, going before them to be judged; but with others, their sins go after them.of certain men the sins are manifest beforehand, leading before to judgment, and certain also they follow after;
1st-Timothy 5:25Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.So also the right actions of some are evident to the world, and those that are not cannot remain for ever out of sight.In the same way, there are good works which are clearly seen; and those which are not so, may not be kept secret.in like manner also the right works are manifest beforehand, and those that are otherwise are not able to be hid.
