Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness; Thou hast set me at large [when I was] in distress: Have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. <To the chief music-maker on corded instruments. Psalms 4:2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah.O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonor? [How long] will ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah O you sons of men, how long will you go on turning my glory into shame? how long will you give your love to foolish things, going after what is false? (Selah.)When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.
Psalms 4:3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call to him.But know that Jehovah hath set apart for himself him that is godly: Jehovah will hear when I call unto him. See how the Lord has made great his mercy for me; the Lord will give ear to my cry.O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?
Psalms 4:4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.Stand in awe, and sin not: Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah Let there be fear in your hearts, and do no sin; have bitter feelings on your bed, but make no sound. (Selah.)Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.
Psalms 4:5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, And put your trust in Jehovah. Give the offerings of righteousness, and put your faith in the Lord.Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.
Psalms 4:6There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift thou upon us the light of thy countenance. Many there are that say, Who will show us [any] good? Jehovah, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. There are numbers who say, Who will do us any good? the light of his face has gone from us.Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?
Psalms 4:7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time when their corn and their wine increased.Thou hast put gladness in my heart, More than [they have] when their grain and their new wine are increased. Lord, you have put joy in my heart, more than they have when their grain and their wine are increased. The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.
Psalms 4:8I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou only, LORD, makest me dwell in safety. In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; For thou, Jehovah, alone makest me dwell in safety.
