Psalms 77:1To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph. I cried to God with my voice, even to God with my voice; and he gave ear to me.<To the chief music-maker. After Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A Psalm.> I was crying to God with my voice; even to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.Understanding for Asaph. Attend, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. To the Overseer, for Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice [is] to God, and I cry, my voice [is] to God, And He hath given ear unto me.
Psalms 77:2In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. In the day of my trouble, my heart was turned to the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night without resting; my soul would not be comforted.I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter propositions from the beginning. In a day of my distress the Lord I sought, My hand by night hath been spread out, And it doth not cease, My soul hath refused to be comforted.
Psalms 77:3I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.I will keep God in memory, with sounds of grief; my thoughts are troubled, and my spirit is overcome. (Selah.)How great things have we heard and known, and our fathers have told us.I remember God, and make a noise, I meditate, and feeble is my spirit. Selah.
Psalms 77:4Thou holdest my eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. You keep my eyes from sleep; I am so troubled that no words come. They have not been hidden from their children, in another generation. Declaring the praises of the Lord, and his powers, and his wonders which he hath done.Thou hast taken hold of the watches of mine eyes, I have been moved, and I speak not.
Psalms 77:5I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. My thoughts go back to the days of the past, to the years which are gone. And he set up a testimony in Jacob: and made a law in Israel. How great things he commanded our fathers, that they should make the same known to their children:I have reckoned the days of old, The years of the ages.
Psalms 77:6I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with my own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. The memory of my song comes back to me in the night; my thoughts are moving in my heart; my spirit is searching with care.that another generation might know them. The children that should be born and should rise up, and declare them to their children.I remember my music in the night, With my heart I meditate, and my spirit doth search diligently:
Psalms 77:7Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favorable no more? Will the Lord put me away for ever? will he be kind no longer? That they may put their hope in God and may not forget the works of God: and may seek his commandments. To the ages doth the Lord cast off? Doth He add to be pleased no more?
Psalms 77:8Is his mercy wholly gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? Is his mercy quite gone for ever? has his word come to nothing? That they may not become like their fathers, a perverse end exasperating generation. A generation that set not their heart aright: and whose spirit was not faithful to God.Hath His kindness ceased for ever? The saying failed to all generations?
Psalms 77:9Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.Has God put away the memory of his pity? are his mercies shut up by his wrath? (Selah.)The sons of Ephraim who bend and shoot with the bow: they have turned back in the day of battle.Hath God forgotten [His] favours? Hath He shut up in anger His mercies? Selah.
Psalms 77:10And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High. And I said, It is a weight on my spirit; but I will keep in mind the years of the right hand of the Most High. They kept not the covenant of God: and in his law they would not walk. And I say: `My weakness is, The changes of the right hand of the Most High.`
Psalms 77:11I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.I will keep in mind the works of Jah: I will keep the memory of your wonders in the past. And they forgot his benefits, and his wonders that he had shewn them.I mention the doings of Jah, For I remember of old Thy wonders,
Psalms 77:12I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.I will give thought to all your work, while my mind goes over your acts of power.Wonderful things did he do in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Tanis. And I have meditated on all Thy working, And I talk concerning Thy doings.
Psalms 77:13Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God!Your way, O God, is holy: what god is so great as our God?He divided the sea and brought them through: and he made the waters to stand as in a vessel.O God, in holiness [is] Thy way, Who [is] a great god like God?
Psalms 77:14Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people. You are the God who does works of power: you have made your strength clear to the nations. And he conducted them with a cloud by day: and all the night with a light ofThou [art] the God doing wonders. Thou hast made known among the peoples Thy strength,
Psalms 77:15Thou hast with thy arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. With your arm you have made your people free, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Selah.)He struck the rock in the wilderness: and gave them to drink, as out of the great deep.Thou hast redeemed with strength Thy people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
Psalms 77:16The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were disturbed. The waters saw you, O God; the waters saw you, they were in fear: even the deep was troubled. He brought forth water out of the rock: and made streams run down as rivers. The waters have seen Thee, O God, The waters have seen Thee, They are afraid also depths are troubled.
Psalms 77:17The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thy arrows also went abroad. The clouds sent out water; the skies gave out a sound; truly, your arrows went far and wide. And they added yet more sin against him: they provoked the most High to wrath in the place without water.Poured out waters have thick clouds, The skies have given forth a noise, Also Thine arrows go up and down.
Psalms 77:18The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. The voice of your thunder went rolling on; the world was flaming with the light of the storm; the earth was shaking. And they tempted God in their hearts, by asking meat for their desires. The voice of Thy thunder [is] in the spheres, Lightnings have lightened the world, The earth hath trembled, yea, it shaketh.
Psalms 77:19Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.Your way was in the sea, and your road in the great waters; there was no knowledge of your footsteps. And they spoke ill of God: they said: Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? In the sea [is] Thy way, And Thy paths [are] in many waters, And Thy tracks have not been known.
Psalms 77:20Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. You were guiding your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.Because he struck the rock, and the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can he also give bread, or provide a table for his people?Thou hast led as a flock Thy people, By the hand of Moses and Aaron!
