Song-of-Solomon 8:1O that thou wert as my brother, that was nourished at the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; yes, I should not be despised.Oh that you were my brother, who took milk from my mother's breasts! When I came to you in the street, I would give you kisses; yes, I would not be looked down on.Oh that you were like my brother, Who sucked the breasts of my mother! If I found you outside, I would kiss you; Yes, and no one would despise me.Who shall give thee to me for my brother, sucking the breasts of my mother, that I may find thee without, and kiss thee, and now no man may despise me?
Song-of-Solomon 8:2I would lead thee, and bring thee into my mother's house, who would instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine of the juice of my pomegranate.I would take you by the hand into my mother's house, and she would be my teacher. I would give you drink of spiced wine, drink of the pomegranate.I would lead you, bringing you into my mother's house, Who would instruct me. I would have you drink spiced wine, Of the juice of my pomegranate.I will take hold of thee, and bring thee Into my mother's house: there thou shalt teach me, and I will give thee a cup of spiced wine and new wine of my pomegranates.
Song-of-Solomon 8:3His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.His left hand would be under my head, and his right hand about me.His left hand would be under my head. His right hand would embrace me.His left hand under my head, and his right hand shall embrace me.
Song-of-Solomon 8:4I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that ye stir not, nor awake my love, until he please.I say to you, O daughters of Jerusalem, do not let love be moved till it is ready.I adjure you, daughters of Jerusalem, That you not stir up, nor awaken love, Until it so desires. FriendsI adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you stir not up, nor awake my love till she please.
Song-of-Solomon 8:5Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple-tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bore thee.Who is this, who comes up from the waste places, resting on her loved one? It was I who made you awake under the apple-tree, where your mother gave you birth; there she was in pain at your birth.Who is this who comes up from the wilderness, Leaning on her beloved? Under the apple tree I aroused you. There your mother conceived you. There she was in labor and bore you.Who is this that cometh up from the desert, flowing with delights, leaning upon her beloved? Under the apple tree I raised thee up: there thy mother was corrupted, there she was defloured that bore thee.
Song-of-Solomon 8:6Set me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals of it are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.Put me as a sign on your heart, as a sign on your arm; love is strong as death, and wrath bitter as the underworld: its coals are coals of fire; violent are its flames.Set me as a seal on your heart, As a seal on your arm; For love is strong as death. Jealousy is as cruel as Sheol; Its flashes are flashes of fire, A very flame of Yahweh.Put me as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy as hard as hell, the lamps thereof are fire and flames.
Song-of-Solomon 8:7Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.Much water may not put out love, or the deep waters overcome it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would be judged a price not great enough. Many waters can't quench love, Neither can floods drown it. If a man would give all the wealth of his house for love, He would be utterly scorned. FriendsMany waters cannot quench charity, neither can the floods drown it: if a man should give all the substance of his house for love, he shall despise it as nothing.
Song-of-Solomon 8:8We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?We have a young sister, and she has no breasts; what are we to do for our sister in the day when she is given to a man?We have a little sister. She has no breasts. What shall we do for our sister In the day when she is to be spoken for?Our sister is little, and hath no breasts. What shall we do to our sister in the day when she is to be spoken to?
Song-of-Solomon 8:9If she is a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she is a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar. If she is a wall, we will make on her a strong base of silver; and if she is a door, we will let her be shut up with cedar-wood.If she is a wall, We will build on her a turret of silver. If she is a door, We will enclose her with boards of cedar. BelovedIf she be a wall: let us build upon it bulwarks of silver: if she be a door, let us join it together with boards or cedar.
Song-of-Solomon 8:10I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favor.I am a wall, and my breasts are like towers; then was I in his eyes as one to whom good chance had come.I am a wall, and my breasts like towers, Then I was in his eyes like one who found peace.I am a wall: and my breasts are as a tower since I am become in his presence as one finding peace.
Song-of-Solomon 8:11Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; he let out the vineyard to keepers; every one for the fruit of it was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.Solomon had a vine-garden at Baal-hamon; he let out the vine-garden to keepers; every one had to give a thousand bits of silver for its fruit.Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon. He leased out the vineyard to keepers. Each was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit. The peaceable had a vineyard, in that which hath people: he let out the same to keepers, every man bringeth for the fruit thereof a thousand pieces of silver.
Song-of-Solomon 8:12My vineyard which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit of it two hundred. My vine-garden, which is mine, is before me: you, O Solomon, will have the thousand, and those who keep the fruit of them two hundred. My own vineyard is before me. The thousand are for you, Solomon; Two hundred for those who tend its fruit. LoverMy vineyard is before me. A thousand are for thee, the peaceable, and two hundred for them that keep the fruit thereof.
Song-of-Solomon 8:13Thou that dwellest in the gardens, the companions hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.You who have your resting-place in the gardens, the friends give ear to your voice; make me give ear to it.You who dwell in the gardens, with friends in attendance, Let me hear your voice! BelovedThou that dwellest in the gardens, the friends hearken: make me hear thy voice.
Song-of-Solomon 8:14Make haste, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of spices.Come quickly, my loved one, and be like a roe on the mountains of spice.Come away, my beloved! Be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices!Flee away, O my beloved, and be like to the roe, and to the young hart upon the mountains of aromatical spices.
